“CHALLENGE Bahrain” International Triathlon Championship, to be held on December 6, will be patronised
by His Royal Highness
Prince Salman bin Hamad
Al Khalifa, Crown Prince,
Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime
Minister.
This was announced by Supreme Council for Youth and
Sports chairman and Bahrain
Olympic Committee president
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al
Khalifa.
Shaikh Nasser expressed his
great appreciation to His Royal
Highness the Crown Prince for
his support.
The global event is being organised by Challenge Family
and Nasser bin Hamad Foundation.
The event, which carries a to-
tal cash prize of $500,000, will
be a first of its kind to be held in
the Middle East.
Shaikh Nasser said that the
Crown Prince’s patronage is a
great honour and a strong incentive for everyone, participants and officials included.

closed after receiving more
than 1,000 applications from 51
countries.

GENERAL secretaries of GCC
national Olympic committees
who are part of a purpose-formed
judging committee tasked to
resolve sports disputes in the Gulf
region will meet today in Bahrain.
The meeting will take place at the
InterContinental Regency Hotel
from 11am onwards.
The GCC representatives are to
discuss the initiatives of Supreme
Council for Youth and Sports
chairman and Bahrain Olympic
Committee (BOC) president
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al
Khalifa.
The committee consists of BOC
general secretary Abdulrahman
Askar, Mohammed Al Kamali
(UAE), Mohammed Al Meshel
(Saudi Arabia) and Mishal Al
Khalifa (Qatar).
Others to be present at the meeting
are representatives of sports affairs
directorate at the GCC General
Secretariat as well as several legal
advisors from all over the region.

ANDREW Marshal of
Britain clinched the
title in the Seventh
King’s Cup International Golf Tournament.
A total of 96 golfers from
21 countries took part in
the tournament which was
organised by Bahrain Golf
Association.
It was attended by Batelco
chairman Shaikh Hamad bin
Abdulla Al Khalifa, Bahrain
Olympic Committee general
secretary Abdulrahman
Askar and other officials.
ARSENAL Soccer School
have launched a scholarship
programme to discover young
Bahraini talents and sponsor
them in order to hone and
develop their football skills.
A trial session to evaluate the
youngsters skills will be held
on December 13, 2014, from
9am to 11am at Soccer City in
Janabiyah.
In order to qualify for the
scholarship, the candidates
(he/she) should be a Bahraini
national and born between
September 2007 and August
2008.
He/she should not be registered
with any Bahraini Football
Association affiliated club and
is able to attend three or four
afternoon training sessions on a
weekly basis.
The child should also be able
to produce a school certificate
proving good attendance and
discipline.

In the amateur category,
Al Mahdi Al Sasi finished
first with 216 points.

Yaqoob (221) third.

n Thirty two coaches began a course in biomechanics being organised by Bahrain Olympic Committee’s Sports Training and Development Section. Twenty are from
Bahrain and the remaining 12 from other GCC countries. The three-day course is part of the section’s annual plan aimed at qualifying coaches in a variety of sports.
Sports Training and Development Section head Nabeel Taha stressed the importance of the course, which helps coaches understand the science of biomechanics
better. The course is being conducted by Dr Mark Sayers, a sports biomechanist and a coordinator of the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of
the Sunshine Coast in Australia. He is also a former international in baseball and rafting and an ex-rugby coach. Above, participating coaches with officials.

in the 12th Zain Bahrain Juniors
Open Tennis Championship 2014
will close today at 6pm at the
Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair.
The tournament will be held from
December 7 to 18, 2014.
Competition will be held in Unisex
- 8 years and under; Unisex - 10
years and under; Boys 12 years
and under; 14 years and under;
16 years and under; 18 years and
under and girls 18 years and under.
Organisers have already received
20 entries which include Yousif Al
Shehabi (Bahrain), Isa Al Ghattan (
Bahrain), Tristan Manners (British)
and Shadi Kallel (Tunisian) in
unisex - 8 and under and 23
players in the unisex - 10 and
under including Mohammed Al
Shehabi (Bahrain), Akshat Gupta
(India), Fares Hajjar (Tunisia) and
Zainab Obaidan (Saudi Arabia).
