LuLu unveils
600 jobs plan
for Bahrainis
MANAMA: LuLu Group has
unveiled plans to generate
600 jobs for Bahrainis in the
next two years.
The UAE-based retail
major already employs more
than 1,000 Bahrainis across
its operations in the kingdom.
The new plans were
announced during an event
marking Bahrain’s National
Day celebrations, where
LuLu Group managing
director Yusuffali MA was
honoured for his contribution
to Bahrain’s economy.
The GDN had earlier
reported that the retailer would set up three more
LuLu Hypermarkets – one
each in Busaiteen, Juffair
and Umm Al Hassam, as
well as a total of 10 LuLu
International
Exchange
branches across the country
as part of its expansion plan
in Bahrain.
Al Mohsin wins
top fellowship
MANAMA: Bahraini Warda
Saeed Habib Al Mohsin
has obtained Fellowship of
the Chartered Insurance
Institute
(FCII) from
the UK-based Chartered
Insurance Institute.
Ms Al Mohsin’s achievement raises the number of
Bahraini holders of this
advanced academic qualification to five, including two
females.
The total number of FCII
degree holders is 6,000 globally.
She is a chemical engineer
working for Hannover Re
in the underwriting department, the third Reinsurance
Company in the world.
China offers
$3bn loan
BANGKOK:
China
has
offered more than $3 billion
in loans and aid to neighbours Cambodia, Vietnam,
Myanmar, Thailand and
Laos to improve infrastructure
and
production, and to fight poverty,
state media reported yesterday.
Chinese
Premier
Li
Keqiang said the offer included $1bn for infrastructure,
$490 million for poverty alleviation and $1.6bn in special
loans for China’s production
capacity export, Xinhua news
agency said.
During a speech to the
fifth summit of the Greater
Mekong Subregion Economic
Co-operation in Bangkok, Li
also pledged $16.4m to dredge
waterways along the Mekong
River to prevent natural disasters.
