december newsletter - Claremont Opera House
A few words from
John Bennett
COH Board President
Dear Opera House Patrons,
The Board of Directors, Staff,
Volunteers and I welcome you to the
Claremont Opera House. As Claremont
becomes 250, we join in the celebration.
Already this season, we have mounted
an exhibit of posters and programs from
years past and joined the Claremont Historical Society and OBSP with a tribute
exhibit and play with historic accounts
from Claremont veterans and wives. An
Atrium exhibit of photographs, from the
collection of the Hale family, highlight
people and places in Claremont. Stage
productions with OBSP and the Fiske
Free Library and a concert sponsored by
the 250th Committee, along with other
programs for your pleasure, help you
pass the autumn and the winter nights.
Variety shows, community and student
programs and school performances fill
out our playbill.
Claremontoperahouse.org
season calendar is the source for the
announcements of shows and events.
This year’s continued focus is
on forming a stronger collaboration with
the local theater community. In support
of the Claremont thespians, are programs
from OBSP, Stevens High School, New
England Classical Academy and Claremont Middle School, as well as others to
be announced.

Please review our four school shows that
enhance science, literature and the state
curriculum.
The Claremont Opera House Inc.
is pleased with its association with the
newly established youth based Theatre
Company. With a strong mission to produce quality theatre within the community
with an emphasis on educational and apprenticeship opportunities while focusing
on young adult involvement makes the
Repertory Theatre Company, “The REP”,
a great asset to The Claremont Opera
House and the community.
As you wait for the performance
to begin, know that you are seated in a
national historic theater and national landmark. The exterior and interior of this
building and theater have undergone years
of restoration. From its opening in 1897 to
its reopening in 1978, this space remains a
fine example of the work of architect
Charles A. Rich, home of the first public
performance by John Philip Sousa’s “Stars
and Stripes Forever”, and the jewel of historic Opera House Square. If you are interested in the history of this building and
past events, you can find more information
on page 5 of the season program book.
Please consider supporting our
advertisers and sponsors. Without their
support, we would not be here. If you
wish to help by becoming a member, sponsor, advertiser or underwriter, let us know.
We continue to rely on our patrons and
donors to keep program costs down to
bring you the best ticket value for live
entertainment.
Most of all, thank you for coming.
Look forward to seeing you again.
Enjoy the show!
Best Wishes,
John D. Bennett, COH, Inc. Pres
