THE INSTITUTE
Reva Institute of Technology and Management (REVA
ITM) was founded under the aegis of Rukmini
Educational and Charitable Trust as the educational
venture of a leading group, Divyasree Developers,
Bengaluru. The institute is affiliated to VTU, Belgaum,
and approved by AICTE, New Delhi, and accredited by
NBA.
Reva ITM is located at a distance of about 22 km from
Majestic Circle and City Railway Station on Bengaluru
International Airport road. Its beautiful 35-acre
campus comprises the main academic building,
library, administrative office, ladies' and boys' hostels,
faculty and staff quarters, etc. Reva ITM has very good
infrastructure, well equipped laboratories, campus
network and dedicated and qualified faculty. Reva ITM
is the perfect place for the students to pursue their
studies. A resource-rich library and a browsing centre
help students in enhancing their knowledge. Institute
offers thorough placement and training, MOU’s with
reputed industries and nurtures extensive research
culture.
THE DEPARTMENT
The department was established in the year 2006 with
an intake of undergraduate 60 students. Keeping in
view the vision of the institute, the department of CSE
is untiringly working to achieve excellence in various
aspects such as: students’ performance, effective
teacher-student
relationship,
imparting
quality
education to students, motivating faculty and students
towards research and imbibing good human qualities.
The Department also offers full-time M.Tech programs
in the areas of CSE and CNE and part-time M.Tech
program in CNE.
The department has a sophisticated center-ofexcellence that enables research leading to PhD. The
department has well-qualified, dedicated and expert
faculty.
The
department
has
well-established
laboratories in the areas of Cloud Computing, Systems
Programming, Computer Networking, Microprocessors
and Electronic Circuits.
THE WORKSHOP
Computational Intelligence (CI) is broadly defined as
the study of adaptive mechanisms that enables or
facilitates intelligent behavior in complex, uncertain
and dynamic environments. The paradigms of CI mimic
nature, for solving real world problems to which
traditional approaches, namely, first principles
modeling or explicit statistical modeling are ineffective
or infeasible. These paradigms include neural
networks, evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence,
fuzzy logic and their hybrids. CI-based techniques are
immensely popular in control, reasoning, prediction
and optimization in many engineering fields, such as
robotics, computer vision and wireless networks.
SCOPE and OBJECTIVES
Concepts, models, algorithms and tools for
development of CI and their applications will be
covered in this two-day workshop.
Theoretical
background, mathematical formalism, implementation
considerations, research trends and case studies on
applications of each of these paradigms will be
provided. Implementations of these algorithms will be
demonstrated, and a comparative performance
analysis will be carried out. Some reported
applications of these algorithms will be discussed.
Theoretical tutorial deliberation will be complimented
with ample hands-on exposure. The underlying
objective is to promote the applications of CI and to
lead participants to in-depth research in a particular
paradigm. Working knowledge of MATLAB would help
the participant in practice sessions.
The workshop will be conducted by resource persons
having strong track record of publishing in
international peer-reviewed journals and proceedings
of international conferences. The workshop includes
ample practice sessions
and self-test assignments
which reinforce the concepts taught in lecture
sessions. On successful completion of the workshop,
each participant will be provided with a DVD
containing literature on various CI algorithms and
their engineering applications.
