Notes from Mr. Remmert
Over the past few years, as a staff, we have
come to recognize the importance of acknowledging students for the positive gains they
make academically and behaviorally. We are
continually looking for different avenues to
recognize students for their accomplishments.
On a daily basis our staff utilizes positive
words of encouragement, Soaring to Success
tickets, and positive phone calls or emails made
to parents.
Award. The Eagle Award recognizes students
who are making significant academic gains,
improving academically or behaviorally from
the beginning of the semester to the end of the
semester, or giving 100% on a daily basis to be
the best that they can be. One student in each
classroom is selected each semester. The students that are recognized are but a fraction of
the great students we have at Eagle View.
Finally, I would like to wish everyone a Happy

2015-16 KINDERGARTEN
Identifying new incoming Kindergarten
students is a very important part of our
planning process. If you, or someone
you know, has a child that will be five
years old on or before August 31, 2015,
please contact Janelle Sasse at the
District Office at 952-758-1703 for
enrollment information and registration forms.
For new Kindergarten families not residing in the NPAS
District and who have not previously completed open enrollment
forms for their child, the Open Enrollment Application must be
received by the District Office in order for your child to be enrolled in a New Prague Area School. Once a child is enrolled in a
non-resident district, the student may remain enrolled and is not
required to submit annual or periodic applications. Forms for
open enrollment can be found on the district website under the
pull-down menu labeled Enrollments. Select ‘Open Enrollment’
and print and complete the first two pages of the form. The State
of Minnesota recommends a January 15 deadline. However,
agreements between Minnesota school districts now allow
families to apply for Open Enrollment at any time during the
year. NPAS would appreciate families applying for Open Enrollment to adhere to the January 15 deadline. Applications should
be dropped off at school or mailed to:

A Note from the School Social Worker, Renee Meyers
The year 2014 has not been easy for some families in our community. I’m so proud of all the families that
have stepped forward to bless others this school year with donations to the social work office and other
holiday programs. Thanks again for your generous spirit this year and always. Please remember that
my ‘Good Choice Box’ is always in need of new items that help encourage students to make good
choices. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

2015 Preschool Registration & WRAP Program
District 721 Preschools Help Your Child for Success in Kindergarten
Preschool registration for fall 2015 will take place in January and early February. We offer preschool classes at the Central
Education Campus (CEC) in New Prague, Early Childhood Center (ECC) in New Prague and Eagle View Elementary (EVE) in Elko
New Market. A one night a week preschool is held at the CEC on Monday nights. NEW choices for 2015-16 include longer sessions, four days a week classes and an extended day preschool. Choices are location specific. All classes can include the Kids’
Company WRAP Program.
Is your child age 3-5 and not attending preschool? Do you want them to get a peek into preschool and see what it is like? We
have two different class options for you and your child. It is a great introduction to the routines and structure of preschool. To join
in January, call 952-758-1670.
Also, new Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes are starting in January. Call 952-758-1670 for information.
Kids Company WRAP Program (We’re Really Awesome Preschoolers)
The Kids Company WRAP Program is made for children who are one year away from Kindergarten and are enrolled in one of
the district preschool classes. It is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Your child can go to preschool in the morning or
afternoon session. When they are not in preschool, they will have a consistent schedule including activities involving literacy,
math, music, social opportunities, arts, science, and fine and large motor skills. For information about the Kids Company WRAP
Program, call Dara Schrock at 952-758-1735.

WAY TO GO! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

How To Get Over Strep Throat Quickly
Suddenly you are not feeling well. It hurts to swallow and your throat is bright red with white spots,
the glands in your neck are sore, you have a headache and a fever has developed. Follow these steps
to quickly recover from the nasty streptococcal bacteria.


Go to the doctor. Strep throat is a bacterial infection, which means you could be prescribed
antibiotics. Children may return to school after being on antibiotics for 24 hours.
Try to get as much sleep as possible.

Gargle with salt water several times a day.

Drink a lot of liquids. Mostly water, 100% fruit juices, chicken broth, hot tea and popsicles.

Wash your hands with soap and water often and keep hand sanitizer handy.

Use humidifiers to provide relief by adding moisture to the air.

Try over-the-counter pain relief medications such as acetaminophen.

Monitor your situation. Most people find their symptoms are gone after a few
days. If you do not feel better after 5 days of treatment, see your doctor.
Enjoy a new year of healthy possibilities!
