SYNOPSIS
If your father is a well-recognised successful business leader,
what words of advice would he offer you in threading your own
path towards success? In this talk, Mr Tan will be sharing precious
nuggets of advice gleaned along from his journey of a successful
career. He will be sharing about pitfalls to avoid, important life
decisions, career management, leadership and entrepreneurship.
These are all advice that he has told his own children.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mr Tan Choon Seng is Chairman of Truscott Group. He was
formerly the Group Chief Executive Officer of WBL Corporation and
a Non-Independent and Executive Director. He joined the board
in December 2004 and was last reelected in 2008. Mr Tan was
previously Vice-President (Customer Solutions Group) and Managing
Director of Hewlett-Packard South East Asia; a post he held from
June 2002 when Hewlett-Packard acquired Compaq.
He also served as the Vice-President and Managing Director for
the ASEAN region of Compaq Computer Asia between June 1999
and June 2002. He joined Compaq Computer in 1996 as the Chief
Financial Officer for its Asia Pacific operations. Prior to joining
Compaq, he spent 20 years in various multinational organisations
in the audit and tax, oil services and IT industries, where he held a
number of senior leadership positions in operations, sales, strategy
and business development.
Mr Tan holds an Accountancy degree from the University of
Singapore and is a non-practising Fellow of Certified Public
Accountants (Singapore).

SYNOPSIS
Mr Deb Dutta
Technology Executive,
Author & Investor
Mr Dutta has previously addressed the UniSIM audience on two
separate occasions since 2011. His first talk focused on the need
to offer value in a demanding, hyper-competitive economy. At his
second talk to address the graduating class of 2012, he expounded
on his ‘philosophy of personal value creation’. This time, Mr Dutta is
further extending on the ‘value’ topic to share on the empowering
vision of bringing value to where it is most needed, i.e. at the bottom
of society’s pyramid. His vision is to eliminate inequity amongst the
poorest and create value for them and by them.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mr Deb Dutta spent more than 25 years leading technology firms
ranging from multinational companies and local start-ups. Since December 2012, Mr Dutta is
Vice President – Software-Defined-Networking & Orchestration, at Juniper Networks. He is also a
board member at D&M Corporation, an advisor to Rhodium Capital and a member of Singapore
Institute of Directors.
Mr Dutta published a book titled ‘Success Is An Exaggeration’ in March 2014. The book presents
Mr Dutta’s alternative views on what defines success and how success can be achieved.
Mr Dutta holds a MBA in International Business (University of South Australia), Masters degree
in Economics (University of Calcutta) and a General Management Certificate (Indian Institute of
Management, Calcutta).
