St. John, Evangelist
Light dawns for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice n the Lord, O you righteous, ad give thanks to His holy name. Psalm 97;1112
St. John was the author of the fourth
Gospel, the last to be written. He was a
mystic and well aware of the power of symbols. In fact, you will see the important
symbols of light and darkness woven
throughout his Gospel. The Christmas
season is a season of light and joy.
Reflect on the light and joy you bring to
others during this holy season. What light
and joy do they bring to you? Jesus says in
John’s Gospel “I am the light of the world”
How has Jesus been light to you? He also
said that “whoever follows me will never
walk in darkness, but will have the light of
life” What does the “light of life” mean to
you?
Let us pray:
Christ, my light, give me the vision to see you in
the difficult times of my life. Enable me to be a
light to others and to inspire them to follow you as
St. John did. Amen
