Marooned school at C/Bay,
students cry for help
BALRAM SINGH
CAMPBELL BAY, DEC 26/-/ T here is no end to the
troubles of students of Govt Sr. Sec school here. A
brief spell of rain causes flood like situation in and
around the scchool building forcing the children and
the teachers to wade through the muddy water to
enter the school b uilding. Unf o rtunatel y, the
situation is not much different even inside the
marooned b uilding where the students have to be
seated keeping their feet away from the water.
According to sources, the Principal of the school
has been repeatedly requesting the APWD authorties
to redesign the drain which fails to drain out the water
ever since the risen sea level after the 2004tsunami.
During the high tide, the drain empties all the water
in the low lying areas around it making the life
difficult for the people. “It’s very difficult for the us to
sit in our class rooms all soaked and our unforms and
shoes smeared with muddy water,” bemaoned a large
number of students.
