n Terror attack victims mourned
His Majesty yesterday sent a cable of condolences
to Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain on the
victims of a terrorist attack on an army-run school
in Peshawar. He also extended heartfelt condolences
to bereaved families, wishing the injured quick
recovery. HRH the Crown Prince sent a similar cable.
n Thanks cable received
HRH the Premier yesterday received a cable of thanks
from Algerian President Abdulaziz Bouteflika in
reply to a cable of congratulations marking the 60th
anniversary of the November Revolution.
n Warm welcome for Premier
MuHaRRaq Governor salman Bin Hindi
welcomed the visit of HRH the Premier today to
patronise the opening of the Halat Bu Maher Health
Centre. He said Muharraq citizens are proud of the
Premier’s opening of the landmark health facility,
and are ready to welcome him.
n Co-operation accord signed
THE National institution for Human Rights and
Together Society for Human Rights (Ma’an ie Together)
signed a memorandum of understanding to consolidate
bilateral co-ordination and co-operation to safeguard
human rights in the kingdom.
n Recommendation accepted
THe interior Ministry has adopted a
recommendation in the Ombudsman’s 2013-14
annual report on “writing Public security vehicle
numbers on both sides of a vehicle”.
n The joint committee meeting in progress
Bahrain-Oman discuss co-operation
THE joint committee between
Bahrain and Oman held its fifth
meeting, chaired by Foreign Minister shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al
Khalifa and omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdulla, as part
of his official visit to Bahrain.

committee was a fundamental approach to bolstering historical and
outstanding ties, which receive
special care and attention by His
Majesty King Hamad and Oman’s
Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

tween the two countries was in
line with the will of the two countries’ peoples and continuation of
the practice of their fathers and
forefathers who lived by co-operation, consultation and solidarity,
he said.

countries and their peoples have
witnessed progress and harmony
as a result of the common will
to serve bilateral interests and
strengthen the role of the two
countries at regional and international levels.
The omani minister expressed
his thanks for the hospitality that
he and his delegation received
during their visit, affirming the
historical and deep-rooted relations between the two countries
and their peoples.
Following consultations, minutes of the meeting were agreed
on and signed. It contained steps
taken by the committee to further
boost bilateral ties, most important
of which were the establishment
of a Bahraini-omani investment
company and a call to the Joint
Bahraini and omani Business
Council to discuss its establish-
ment and implementation process,
particularly in the fields of food
security, financial investment and
insurance.
Both ministries will follow up
the progress of work by the joint
committee every six months. The
two sides also stressed the importance of the exchange of expertise, information and visits in the
sectors of oil and gas, electricity
and water, agriculture and fisheries, municipalities, education and
higher education, civil service,
heritage, culture, tourism and vocational training.
n National Day celebrated
THE Labour Ministry celebrated National Day. It was
attended by Minister Jameel Humaidan, senior officials
and staff.
n Stones hurled at school
THuGs yesterday threw stones at the isa Town
secondary school for Boys, smashing windowpanes.
The education Ministry has so far reported 391
attacks on schools.
n Bapco apologises for error
BAPCo has apologised for an error that appeared
in Bapco Diary 2015, which has been distributed as
part of the company’s publications for the new year.
A statement by the company said that a map of the
“Arabian Gulf” has been mistakenly referred to as the
“Gulf” in the diary.
n Industry and Commerce Minister Zayed Al Zayani received
Moroccan Ambassador Ahmed Rasheed Khattabi.
n Social Development Minister Faeqa Al Saleh yesterday received the
Moroccan Ambassador who congratulated her on her appointment.
The meeting focused on ways of bolstering joint co-operation.
