SPACE THE SPACE THEME OF THE HORIZON 2020 PROGRAMME DEVELOPS THE COMPETITIVENESS OF EUROPEAN SPACE INDUSTRY AND APPLICATION IS SATELLITE NAVIGATION (GALILO) AND EARTH OBSERVATION (COPERNICUS). THE SPACE THEME HAS A BUDGET OF 1.5 BILLION EURO. Call themes 2015 Galileo – satellite navigation technologies and services (25 M€) Earth Observation – satellite remote sensing, climate change, applications (25 M€) Protection of satellites and the Earth (6.5 M€) Industrial competitiveness and Science – e.g. spacecraft electronics, Mars landers, human space flight, propulsion technologies, space weather, near Earth asteroids (39 M€) SME initiative (8.5 M€), Fast Track to Innovation (3.4 M€) Other actions mainly in satellite navigation (70 M€) Call for proposals opens: 4 November 2014 The calls for proposals closed on 8 April 2015 The budget for the call is 182 million euro. Special conditions The participation of third countries and international organisations is welcome in all other topics except critical technologies for spacecraft. Few topics have predefined beneficiaries, such as the European Space Agency or The European GNSS Supervisory Authority.
