ALATEEN MEETING AT THE SAME TIME AND PLACE
Effective: 1/10/2015
Open/Closed Meetings
All Al-Anon Family Groups (AFG) meetings welcome anyone who believes that their life has been affected by someone else's drinking, either today or in the past. An Al-Anon meeting may choose to be "open" or closed"by the consent of its participants. Open Al-Anon meetings allow
attendance by people who are not families and friends of alcoholics but who are interested in learning about Al-Anon Family Groups. People who may come to open Al-Anon meetings occasionally include students and professionals who work with alcoholics and their famillies.
Generally, Al-Anon group meetings are "closed," limited to members and prospective members, giving them the freedom to share and listen to the experience, strength, and hope of one another on a confidential and anonymous basis.

Welcome to Al-Anon/Alateen
Family Groups
The Twelve Steps
Because of their proven power and worth, A.A.’s Twelve
Steps have been adopted almost word for word by Al-Anon.
They represent a way of life appealing to all people of
goodwill, of any religious faith or of none. Note the power of
the very words!
1.
We admitted we were powerless over alcohol, that
our lives had become unmanageable.
2.
Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves
could restore us to sanity.
3.
Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to
the care of God as we understood Him.
4.
Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of
ourselves.
5.
Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human
being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6.
Were entirely ready to have God remove all these
defects of character.
7.
Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8.
Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and
became willing to make amends to them all.
9.
Made direct amends to such people wherever
possible, except when to do so would injure them or
others.
10.
Continued to take personal inventory and when we
were wrong promptly admitted it.
11.
Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our
conscious contact with God, as we understood Him,
praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the
power to carry that out.
12.
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of
these steps, we tried to carry this message to others,
and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
You are not alone
The Al-Anon/Alateen Family Groups are a
fellowship of relatives and friends of
alcoholics who share their experience,
strength, and hope in order to solve their
common problems. We believe alcoholism is
a family disease and that changed attitudes
can aid recovery. Al-Anon/Alateen is not
allied with any sect, denomination, political
entity, organization, or institution; does not
engage in any controversy, neither endorses
nor opposes any cause. Al-Anon/Alateen has
but one purpose – to help families and friends
of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the
Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving
comfort to families and friends of alcoholics
and by giving understanding and
encouragement to the alcoholic.
It is suggested that you try 6 different
meetings before you decide if Al-Anon is
for you.
God, grant me the Serenity to accept the
things I cannot change, Courage to change the
things I can, and Wisdom to know the
difference
