Chamber Annual Banquet Recognizes Duncan’s Best
SAVE THE DATE
The Duncan Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet will be held,
Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Simmons Center.
Please join us for a celebration of our city’s best accomplishments during 2014.
From businesses that have made a significant impact in improving our
community and fostering free enterprise, to individuals who have
exemplified true community spirit and contributed their talents for the
benefit of others. Our annual awards presentation seeks to highlight and
reward these admirable endeavors. Nominations are being accepted now!
Please submit your nominations for outstanding businesses and individuals
in our community that you believe to be deserving of recognition.
It is important that you explain why your nomination should be
considered for the award. Please mail, fax, or email your nomination form,
found on our website and inside this newsletter,
prior to January 9, 2015.
Entertainment (Star) Sponsorships, table and half table sponsorships are
available for $1,000, $500 and $300 respectively. Individual tickets are

December Community Breakfast
December’s Community Breakfast was great fun, and was highlighted by live entertainment from The Hodgson Studio Singers. Bank of Commerce and Divine Furnishings
were our sponsors. Cindy Reynolds introduced the crowd to the many services Bank of
Commerce provides. Bank of Commerce is locally owned and
operated on the principle of “Relationship Banking” and offers many services to
the community including their business and consumer loans and mortgage lending. Randy Sullivan, general manager of Divine Furnishings shared about the
many types of furnishings offered. Attendees were updated with information on
many community organizations and activities, and our sponsors were the focus
of the fun and games portion of the event. Because New Year’s Day in on the first Thursday of January,
please join us for our January Community Breakfast on Thursday, January 8th, sponsored by Halliburton
Employee Federal Credit Union.

Leadership Duncan Class XIX
The Health Education Day session for Class XIX on December 9th included a full
day studying a variety of topics related to health services in Duncan and our
region. As Day Chair, Tanya Case, with the assistance of Jay Johnson planned
a comprehensive program that started with a health check for each person, included discussions of hospital finances and
health care reform, student reports of interviews with local health care organizations, and tours of the specialty services
available at Duncan Regional Hospital through the Cancer Center, Wound Care Center, and Learning Center/Skill Lab.
The session was designed to create an understanding of the Affordable Care Act and how it impacts the State of Oklahoma
and citizens of Stephens County, to review the importance of personal health behaviors, to review the importance of personal health behaviors, to gain knowledge about the various health care agencies in Stephens County, especially Duncan
Regional Hospital, and to gain knowledge regarding important statewide health care organizations. We would like to thank
our speakers for the day: Tanya Case, Chairman of the National Association of State Comprehensive Health Insurance
Plans, Cindy Rauh, Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer of Duncan Regional Hospital; Julie Pennypacker, Manager of
Education Services at Duncan Regional Hospital; Commissioner Terri White of the Oklahoma Department of Mental
Health and Substance Abuse Services; Jay Johnson, CEO of Duncan Regional Hospital; Lane Hooten, COO of Cancer Centers of SW Oklahoma; Dr. James McGouran, Past Chief of Staff of Duncan Regional Hospital; Dr. Jimmy Jones, Medical
Director of the DRH Wound Care Center; Cyndi Crook, Director of the DRH Health Foundation; and Patty Wininger, DRH
Disaster Preparedness Coordinator; and Jeff Gregston, Owner/Operator Marlow Nursing and Elk Crossing. A special DRH
case study in community leadership about the creation of Duncan Regional Hospital closed the day. We would like to thank
Dr. Robert J. Weedn, Tommy Jones and Betty Apple for their wonderful insights and dedication to the development of
Duncan Regional Hospital and the leadership they have provided to our community.
New Publication Available
The new 2015 Duncan Community Profile and Business Directory is now available at the Chamber office. The Directory
contains the alphabetical and categorical listings of all Chamber members. The Duncan Community Profile is distributed
by the Chamber throughout the community and to persons interested in relocating to Duncan. Placed at all hospitality
locations, most visitors to Duncan use it as a handy reference to location businesses and services in our community. It is
also used by the Duncan Conventions & Visitors Bureau to promote tourism, and provided to residents establishing new
utility services by the City of Duncan. In addition, Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation, Duncan Regional
Hospital, and other businesses use this publication to attract new employees.
