with breakfast(s), will be offered to the SPE Workshop registrants. Please
return the completed Pre/Post Hotel Booking Form directly to Shangri-La

Please note that charges for extra night accommodation, room upgrade and any

Visitors to Malaysia must be in possession of passports valid for at least six (6)
months with proof of onward passage, either return or through tickets.
Valid passports and/or other internationally recognised travel documents are
required for entry into Sabah (Kota Kinabalu) even if you are travelling from
Peninsula Malaysia or Sarawak.
Please check with your travel agent or the Malaysian Embassy/ Consulate on
regulations relating to immigration/visa before your departure.
Visa invitation letter can be obtained from SPE by completing your details
on Page 5. Please note that it is the sole responsibility of the attendee to obtain
the necessary paperwork for entry into Malaysia. The invitation letter does not
guarantee that you will be granted a visa.
CLIMATE:
Kota Kinabalu climate can be described as equatorial, a pleasant mix of warm,
sunny days and occasional cooling rain storms, with February through April being
the driest months generally with average temperature is around 20ºC to 32ºC
(75 ºF to 90 ºF).
CURRENCY:
The national monetary unit is Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). Currently, US$1.00 is
approximately MYR3.30. Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport, local
banks and hotels.
DRESS CODE:
Casual/smart clothing is recommended. The Workshop atmosphere is informal.
ELECTRICITY:
Power: 220 – 240 AC/DC Voltage. Several different plugs and sockets are in use,
but two pin flat (US type) or round (European type) are universal. Adapters can be
obtained at the hotel or purchased at local stores.
LANGUAGE:
Malay is the national language, but English is generally spoken.
TIME:
Kota Kinabalu is 8 hours ahead of GMT and is in the same time zone as Beijing,
Hong Kong and Singapore.
