Thanks to those who already do take pictures, it’s greatly appreciated. If you are Corporal, please write a summary of the guest speaker’s talk. If you can’t do Corporal please find a replacement and advise Craig Perkins and myself so we can change it in the rosters and newsletter. The deadline for the newsletter is always 5pm Thursday. Thank you. Jokes you will see on Rotarian Craig Perkins Facebook page The testimony at the barbershop is mostly hair-say. I searched for designer compression stockings. My wife says it is because I’m so vein The thing about vampires is they always have such biting humour. His daughter grew flowers because her poppy liked to see them every daisy. I take pictures of trees and plants while the sun is out. It really emphasizes photosynthesis Report from President Wendy Summers Report from President Wendy Summers Happy New Year! Welcome to our first meeting for 2015. I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and found some time to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends during the break. After a very busy year, I loved being able to switch off and recharge the batteries! I particularly enjoyed pottering around at home and catching up on a few of those domestic tasks that were long overdue, as well as making a couple of day trips around the state. Many of you have enjoyed far more adventurous travels over the break, including Treasurer Richard who has sent regular emails from Europe, keeping his finger on the treasury pulse from afar! Last Monday’s BBQ at the Launceston Golf Club was well attended on a beautiful summer’s evening. Thanks to everyone who came along to start the year off in a relaxed, informal manner. I received my Working with Vulnerable People card in the mail last week, less than four weeks since making payment at Service Tasmania. With that kind of turnaround, there is still plenty of time for you to apply online, go into Service Tasmania to pay, and then receive your card before Rotary’s birthday on 23 February. Provided you have submitted a copy of the card, and your receipt for reimbursement (if required), by that date you will go in the draw for some quality Tasmania wines. Don’t forget the presentation at the Door of Hope on 2nd February by Resilient Youth Australia. As the recipient of our Sally’s Ride funding it would be wonderful to have strong representation from our Club to show our support. Did you make a new year’s resolution? If so, I hope you are actively working on achieving the goals you set out to achieve. At the beginning of our Rotary year, our resolution was to Light up Rotary. We are doing that through our regular activities, but there are still many ways in which we can expand that opportunity. This includes identifying new members who we believe would add value to our club and who personally would benefit from being involved in Rotary. If there is someone that you think would make a great Rotarian, please ask them along to a meeting or let our Membership Director Andrew Richman know. We would love to meet them! Have a great week.
