The Meaning of Human Sexuality
The tangible, earthly, corporeal world is more than inert
matter or modeling clay for the human will. Creation is
sacred. It has sacramental meaning, It reflects God’s
glory. That includes our bodies. Our sexuality has the
power to procreate, and shares in the dignity of being created in the image of God. We need to live accordingly.

Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
January 18, 2015
FOCUS: We are to use our everyday actions and conversations to help attract others to Jesus.
Through their witness of Jesus as the Messiah, John the Baptist and Saint Andrew are instrumental to
the world coming to know about Jesus and his mission on earth. By telling a friend or relative about Jesus, which is what these men did, we are continuing this work of evangelization today.
LITURGY OF THE WORD: In today’s first reading, Eli teaches Samuel how to respond to God’s
call, and Samuel learns well. The second reading teaches that our bodies are to be used by us to glorify
God. In the Gospel, John the Baptist tells his followers that Jesus is the Messiah.
REFLECTION: Following Jesus takes a lifetime of listening, learning, acting, and, when necessary, repenting. This period of learning may be what John is suggesting when Jesus invites and promises
the searchers, "Come and you will see." They go with the Teacher and stay with him and their lives are
forever changed.
So we ask ourselves:
i Has our search for God become stagnant, something fixed in the past?
i What can we do to experience new energy and meaning in our faith lives?
