Friday 23rd January 2015 Message from Charlotte Hill, Head of School First of all, I would like to thank Mrs Andrews for organising and leading the Plymouth Raiders trip. It was a great success; children, their family members and the staff who attended had a superb time. The final score was 109 – 100 to the Plymouth Raiders, it was a very close game, with the Cheshire Phoenix team usually within 10 points of the Raiders at all times. Mrs Andrews has also been busy replenishing the Tunnel’s resources with playtime equipment and the PE cupboard with new resources too, so watch this space to see what surprises we have in store! Thank you for all of your hard work Mrs Andrews. I would also like to congratulate a group of 5 children in Year 6 who researched, prepared and presented at the Youth Speaks Rotary Club Competition. They were OUTSTANDING and came second, meaning that they are through to the next round, well done! Class 1 had a visit from our local Police officers. They were shown the different types of hats worn by policemen and they demonstrated how to handcuff someone! What a fantastic time everyone had on Sunday at the Plymouth Raiders Basketball Match. All the children took part in a training session with the players and then met them all before the game. Thank you to Mrs Andrews and Miss Hill for arranging this great day out and to Mr Fisher for supporting shooting! Rotary Speaking Competition Huge congratulations to James, Maisie and Owen, who came second in the Sidmouth Rotary Club's Youth Speaks competition this week. They worked with Edward and Sky to research their topic 'Ivory Poaching', and put in an impressive performance. Our Christian Values Respect Kindness Honesty Forgiveness Trust The story of the Good Samaritan, in which a man who was hurt and in trouble was helped by an unexpected person, helped us this week to think about making good choices. The man in the story, told by Jesus, had been robbed and left badly hurt. Two people made the choice to ignore his difficulty, but one chose to put his own needs second and to help the injured man. Our choices have consequences for others as well as for ourselves. 198 362 149 238 Happy Birthday this week to: Alfie Nicholas Sidbury’s Superheroes!
