Procurement of Ten (10 No.) Remanufactured Locomotives
Zambia Railways Limited is a statutory wholly state owned company by the Republic of
Zambia which was established under the Railways Act No. 17 of 1982. Zambia Railways
Limited operates a total length of 1,248 KM of 1067mm gauge of single Track.
Zambia Railways Limited made a provision in its 2014 Budget towards the cost of Procuring
Ten (10 No.) Remanufactured Locomotives and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this
financing to payments under the Contract for the supply and delivery of Ten (10 No.)
remanufactured Locomotives loted as follows:

Bidders can bid for one or both Lots and will be evaluated on Lot by Lot basis.
Zambia Railways Limited now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the
supply and delivery of Ten (10 No.) remanufactured Locomotives.
Bidding will be conducted through the Open International Competitive Bidding (OICB)
procedures specified in the Public Procurement Act No. 12 of 2008 and the Public
Procurement Regulations of 2011 and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as
defined in the Bidding Documents.
Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from Zambia Railways Limited
(ZRL) and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 08:00 hours to
13:00 hours and from 14:00 hours to 17:00 hours Zambian time, Monday to Friday.
A complete set of the Solicitation Documents in English may be purchased by interested
Bidders from the office of Manager Procurement and Supplies, Zambia Railways Limited,
Kafue River Road, P.O. Box 80935, Kabwe, Zambia upon payment of a non refundable fee
of K1,000.00 in cash or Bank Certified Cheque. Interested Bidders may obtain further

ACCEPTED.
Bids must be appropriately bound, sealed and bold labeled “Tender No.
ZRL/TEN/RS/00643/2014 Tender for the supply and delivery of Ten (10 No.)
remanufactured Locomotives “and must be deposited in the Tender Box situated at First Floor
Shitima House in Kabwe on or before Wednesday January 28, 2015 at 10:00 Zambian time.
All Bids must be accompanied with a bid security of two percent (2%) of the bid sum or an
equivalent amount in any freely convertible
The closing date for receipt of bids is Wednesday January 28, 2015 at 10:00 Zambian time
and any bids received after the time and date stipulated above shall not be accepted. The bids
will be opened in the Board Room at Shitima House, Kafue River road, Kabwe, Zambia soon
after closing in the presence of Bidders or their chosen representatives who choose to attend.
