Letters to the Editor
Penny Corbin, public relations & prevention specialist
Shiawassee County Community Mental Health
Editor, The Independent:
Do you want to go out for a fun evening in Owosso? Well
I would like to highly recommend that you go and see
“Boeing, Boeing” at the Lebowsky Center.
We went on Saturday evening and it was one of the funniest shows I have seen in a long time. It was laugh out loud
funny. The cast of six local actors did a fantastic performance of this hilarious comedy. The timing and the dialogue were perfect. A great value for just $15.
Before the performance we went to Abiding in The Vine
for dinner and it was wonderful, really good food and a
very reasonable price.
So there are just two great reasons why Owosso is a great
place to live, work and play.
Editor, The Independent:
The night was Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 7:11 p.m. I was pulling
out of a parking spot at the Kroger just east of Owosso,
when in front of me came you barreling around the corner
in this red car. You then proceeded to squeeze beside my
driver’s side to get through as I stared you down in my
front window and you saw me from the side. You and your
white hair. I’m swearing in my car as this is yet another of Lee Mills, Owosso
my pet peeves people do.
When a person is pulling out of a parking spot, “Let
Them Finish!” Be polite. As I left, I thought about this
and turned around and came back for your license number. The car was a red Impala. Your trip to Kroger only
took seven minutes. What was so important that you had
to get that you almost crashed into me in the parking lot?
Did your wife make you go to the store? Were you upset
at her? Or did you need a drink? I hope she gives you an
earful for this.
“Open your mind, arms and hands to new things and
people!” said Linda Ruehle of the Shiawassee Arts Center. “The Arts Center will be hosting a Super Bowl Pottery class to experience making pottery on the wheel. To
make Super Bowls, the class will be 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. If you don’t have time for a weekly commitment, or want to try it before signing up for a six-week
class, this is for you!
“The cost is $25 for a SAC member or $35 for a nonmember. Dress for mess and bring an old towel. Clay,
glaze and firings included in price. The glazing of bowls
to finish and fire will be 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15.”
Linda Ruehle will be the pottery instructor. Persons may
call (989) 723-8354 to register. The Arts Center is located
at 206 Curwood Castle Drive, Owosso.
Landlords Session
The Landlords Association invites area landlords to its
membership kickoff meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at
Tony M’s, 2280 W. M-21, Owosso. Dinner is at 6 p.m. and
the meeting starts at 7 p.m. There will be a drawing for a
free dinner and other door prizes.
The meeting speaker will be attorney Thomas E. Moorhead. He will cover the new law relating to a death of a tenant. The meeting is open to all landlords/property managers.

Around the World Family Fun Night Friday, Jan.
23. Each family received a
“passport” and were able
to take a journey to different countries where the
kids learned about traditions, crafts and food of
each country. Countries
explored were the USA,
China, Mexico, France
and Australia. It is never
too early to start learning
about the world and other
cultures. The staff did a
wonderful job of making
the night a fun way to learn
and explore.
