We have the solution for MOLDs Not the green slimy kind, but rather dies used to make molds for a variety of applications. There are a few options when it comes to making the die. It can be a single-level, etched magnesium or copper die or a multi-level CNC magnesium or brass die. If you have a project in mind or just want to bounce some ideas off us, give Joe Holden our Technical Manager a call! A sampling of molds OWOSSO customers are using our dies for: YY Jewelry Sand casting molds (pewter, gold, silver) (Bronze and other casting metals) Candy-chocolate molds Vacuum forming Injection molding (plastics) Cement Wax Rubber Stamp Masters Clay Owosso Graphic Arts • 800-444-5552 • www.owossographic.com Owosso Graphic Arts 800-444-5552 www.owossographic.com Journal1st 10.indd 1 3/12/10 3:27:24 PM LE RED U R YC EC CE R E US E How Do You Measure Up? 2 We all know the slogan, but how many of us actually put these words into action? We’ve made a conscious effort at OWOSSO to be environmentally responsible. Here are just a few ways we are implementing the 3 R’s: • Used 103,500 less kilowatts of electricity and 332.8 less MCF of gas in 2009 • Recycle paper, glass, plastic, tin, aluminum, film, scrap magnesium & copper • Use the backside of printed paper in our laser printers whenever possible • Put bins in our garage for associates to bring in recyclables • Eliminated paper plates, Styrofoam cups and plastic utensils in our lunchroom and replaced them with washable dinnerware • Use recycled paper for all of our promotional pieces—including this newsletter • Recycle our spent Ferric Chloride • Neutralize our spent Nitric Acid through our in-house waste treatment • Use energy efficient lighting Useless Tidbits The sentence: “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog,” uses every letter of the alphabet. The flow of water was stopped completely over both Niagara Falls on March 29th, 1848 OGA due to an ice jam in the upper river for several hours. This is the only known time to have occurred. The Falls did not actually freeze over, but the flow was stopped to the point where people actually walked out and recovered artifacts from the riverbed. If the population of China walked past you, 8 abreast, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction. Three years ago we introduced our On-line Ordering System; we’ve tweaked it and made improvements over the years with suggestions from customers. We are now looking at updating our system to make it even more userfriendly and efficient. Who better to ask for suggestions than the people who actually use it? Is there something about our system that you just can’t stand, or something that would make your life a whole lot easier? Here’s your chance to let us know! We’ll compile all the suggestions we receive, put them with our own internal requests and put together the best possible On-Line Ordering System to meet your needs. You can click on Tech Tip and a pdf will go into detail about the why and how. Other information to keep in mind: • “jpeg” files have to be converted regardless 6 • “TIf” files need to be created as “bitmap color mode” at 50% Threshold • If “tiff” files are saved/created in any other color mode, they will show a screen • If the artwork is a “ C M Y K vector” file... The art has to be 100% “K” (black). • For color separated dies, the art needs to be created one of two ways: The colors need to be either, “Spot Colors” or “100% of C M Y K” If you ever have any questions, give our Imaging Team a call (Andy, Joe, Cary, Janeen & Kathleen) or shoot them an e-mail at [email protected].
