85% of employees have had training courses
PIC allocates 17 pct of projects value for health, environment: CEO
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30, (KUNA):
The Petrochemical Industries
Company (PIC) allocates around 17
percent of the total value of its own
projects for implementing health,
safety and environment projects, the
company’s CEO Asaad Al-Asaad
said here on Saturday.
The PIC sets a priority for training courses in the fields of health,
safety and environment with a view
to upgrading the performance of its
personnel and precluding industrial
accidents, he said in a statement.
He added that 85 percent of the
PIC’s employees had training
courses in the domains of health,
safety and environment and success rate exceeded 85 percent.
In this context, the company
organized a recent international
health and environment confer-
ence held under the aegis of
Minister of Oil and Minister of
State for National Assembly
Affairs Ali Al-Omair, the PIC
chairman pointed out.

Company (PIC) was founded in
1963 as the first chemical fertilizer
complex of its kind in the region.
Today, the PIC is a subsidiary of
the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation
(KPC) and is a petrochemical
industry leader in Kuwait and
throughout the Middle East, and a
growing leader worldwide.
In addition to manufacturing and
marketing fertilizers, olefins and
aromatics in Kuwait, the PIC participates in multiple joint ventures that
also produce and market chemicals

8th forum for officers inaugurated at KU
Administrative
Development
and
Training
Department
at
Kuwait
University on Tuesday inaugurated the
eighth forum for preparation of middle
class administrative officers, to enable
them to hold supervisory positions in
their various offices, under the theme
“Future Leaders”, from Jan 27 to April
5.
The General Secretariat of Kuwait
University organized the event, while the
inauguration ceremony was held under
the auspices of Assistant Secretary
General for Facilities Management Dr
Adam Al-Mulla. Other officials at the ceremony
included
Director
of
Administrative
Development
and
Training Suad Al-Zeid and a professor of
Public Law from the Faculty of Law Dr
Abdul-Mun’em Na’im.

MoC warns defaulters to pay
up or face ‘consequences’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: Undersecretary of
Ministry of Communications Eng Hameed AlQattan announced that the ministry will start
taking strict measures against subscribers who
are yet to pay their dues to the ministry for the
phone services.
In a press statement, Eng Al-Qattan said the
Minister of Communications and State
Minister for Municipal Affairs Essa Al-Kandari
has issued directives to take all necessary
measures for collecting pending dues that individual or company subscribers owe the ministry for various services in order to protect
public funds and the rights of the state.
He revealed that the ministry has collected
about KD2 million in the last three months,
most of which were from accumulated debts
for phone services that are both still operational
and out of service, adding that some of the
debts have been longstanding since before the
Iraqi invasion.
Eng Al-Qattan explained that the ministry
has formed a committee headed by Assistant
Undersecretary for Financial Affairs Adel
Dashti for revenue collection from subscribers
of phone services provided by the ministry irrespective of whether the subscribers are public
servants, companies or individuals. The
process involves addressing some relevant
government bodies such as Ministry of
Commerce and Industry, Public Authority for
Civil Information and Kuwait Chamber for
Commerce and Industry for providing information about companies that owe money to
Ministry of Communication, their owners and
partners, as well as their addresses to be used
for informing them about their dues.
Meanwhile, he affirmed that the ministry has
cancelled the method of paying accumulated
debts in installments because those who registered for that payment method only paid the
first installment after which they neglected to
complete the payment of their dues.

In its final statement, the
conferees said that the Arab
countries have made significant progress since 2000
towards achieving the goals
of education for all initiative, such as eliminating
gender disparity in access to
basic and secondary education.
They, however, said that
much efforts are needed to
overcome the remaining
challenges and meeting
growing needs for high
quality education.
Challenges
The main challenges facing the efforts to develop the
educational process in the
region is the rampant political unrest and growing
poverty rates, they noted.
The statement underlined
that promoting social peace
and achieving sustainable
development are contingent
upon the provision of quality education for all without
discrimination.
It called for more cooperation among government
and non-government bodies
to bring down the illiteracy
rates in Arab countries as
well as to upgrade educational programs and tools. It
stressed the need to improve
the performance of teachers
and harness their skills.
The three-day conference
was organized by the
UNESCO Regional Bureau
for Education in the Arab
States in the Egyptian
resort of Sharm El-Sheikh
under the theme of
“Towards
Quality
Education and Lifelong
Learning for All”.
The event brought together ministers and senior officials of ministries of education from countries in the
region and representatives
from regional and international organizations and
NGOs with two main objectives: discuss issues, trends,
challenges and future priorities for education on the
basis of the national EFA
reviews conducted by the
countries in 2014; and
develop regional recommendations for the international framework for action
to be adopted at the World
Education
Forum
in
Incheon.
The meeting provided an
opportunity for countries to
voice their reflections and
needs for education beyond
2015 and to contribute to the
shaping of the future of education within the broader
development agenda from a
regional perspective.
The conference was held
in preparation for the 2015
World Education Forum
(WEF), which will be
organized by UNESCO in
Incheon; the Republic of
Korea, in May 2015.

get-to-gether at the farm of
Sheikh Ali Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad AlSabah.
Also attending at the farm known
as Al-Azayez were foreign ambassadors and their staff based in
Kuwait.
In a statement to the press,
the Foreign Minister extended
his thanks to the host of this
yearly much-awaited-for recreational event, saying that
the diplomatic corps attending
this gathering were also grateful to Sheikh Ali for his generosity
and
hospitality.
