Assistant Professor
Dave Jerabek is an Assistant Professor at the Joint and Combined Warfighting School in the
Joint Forces Staff College, a part of the National Defense University, in Norfolk, VA. In his 30year Navy career he held numerous command and joint positions. His commanding officer (CO)
tours were at Naval Administrative Command, Norfolk, VA, and with Helicopter Combat
Support Squadron SIX (HC-6) also in Norfolk, VA. His joint tours were at United States Joint
Forces Command, J7; United States Atlantic Command, J8; and Joint Forces Staff College. A
Navy helicopter pilot, Assistant Professor Jerabek had three aircraft squadron tours and two
ship’s company tours during his career, culminating as Operations Officer aboard USS GUAM
(LPH-9). Assistant Professor Jerabek teaches National Security Strategy and Joint Operational
Planning in one of two senior seminars in Joint and Combined Warfighting School for Joint
Professional Military Education II. Prior to his retirement from active duty, he was a plank
holding instructor and department chair of the Operational Art and Campaign Planning Department at
the Joint Advanced Warfighting School, one of National Defense University’s masters degree
granting senior service schools. He currently teaches one elective on Comprehensive Approach
to Complex Contingency Operations and previously taught electives in Combating Weapons of
Mass Destruction and Consequence Management. His prior teaching experience includes two
years as a Senior Lecturer of Mathematics at the United States Naval Academy. Assistant
Professor Jerabek is a 1979 graduate of United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Management and Technology. He earned his Masters of Science degree in
Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and has his Certificate in College
Teaching from the Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education. He is also a 1999
graduate of the Army War College in Carlisle, PA. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in
Business Administration from Walden University.
