Scope and Approach (v3.1)
BizXpress Implementation Service – Succession Management
BizXpress is SuccessFactors' rapid deployment service for our Business Execution (BizX) SAAS software products. Based on
SuccessFactors' industry leading BizX Maturity Model and process best practices, BizXpress offers a streamlined
implementation option for customers who want to get their SuccessFactors' BizX products up and running quickly and
efficiently. BizXpress customers will fully leverage SuccessFactors' 12+ years of experience in Business Execution by
adopting a set of best practice configurations that have been thoroughly tested and proven in the field. These
configurations will serve as an integrated starting point for customers to advance their business execution processes
while using SuccessFactors' application products in a production environment.
The BizXpress service offering has a fixed scope and serves as a faster, and in most cases, a more cost effective
implementation alternative for many customers in contrast to our traditional custom implementations (SAP Launch
Methodology) that focus on supporting customer's existing / legacy HCM processes and systems. The BizXpress
implementation service will allow customers to immediately begin to derive value from the SuccessFactors' BizX suite of
products and put them on the road to using these applications to truly transform their business. If speed to value, impact
and integration are key drivers for a customer’s success then BizXpress deserves serious consideration.
MODULE : Succession Management (SP and CDP)
SERVICES DESCRIPTION: BizXpress service follows a simple process. Activities include:

STEP 1: BizXpress Kickoff - The first step in our BizXpress journey involves getting you familiar with our
BizXpress process, understanding the roles and activities you will be responsible for and creating a schedule
for the implementation. We will also give you an overview of Business Execution and insight into our BizX
maturity model. There will be plenty of time for questions.

STEP 2: BizX Maturity Assessment - Next we want you to complete the BizX Maturity Assessment that will
allow us to identify the right starting point for your BizX function and processes. The outcome of the
assessment will be a rating of your company's desired BizX maturity for Succession Management, which
includes both succession planning and development. There are three levels of maturity:

Automate - Automate is all about efficiency and effectiveness. Here the focus is on mastering the
basics of Succession Management and providing the foundation for user adoption and ecosystem
utilization. Traditionally this level of maturity sees the succession process centered on the individual –
making sure employees have discussed development needs with their managers and have some
form of development plan. Succession is about individual replacement. Development and succession
plans are managed in a decentralized environment. The configuration emphasis is to provide a data
and form foundation that provides consistent plans and data driven by a select few best practice
options.

Integrate - Integrate is about being comprehensive and connected across the business - raising the
bar. Here the Succession Management solution areas in focus become "global" through integration of
data and leading Succession process implementation. Succession is now managed centrally and
optimized to drive consistency across groups, units and geographies. From a career perspective the
focus is on merging individual development needs with business development needs. From a
succession planning perspective, the emphasis is now on managing pools of candidates.

Transform - Transform is the strategic play - changing the way the Talent Management game is
played. Acceleration of value realization through insight and strategic management of assets
becomes the way the business works. Succession Management is a critical piece of this operational
equation. It is at this level of maturity where the sole focus is one developing, managing and
maintaining pipelines of talent that address specific business needs. Capabilities are now in place to
manage succession and careers across a complex matrix.
A best practice configuration will be created based on your BizX maturity assessment rating for Succession
Management.

STEP 3: BizX Maturity Assessment Results Alignment - Once the Maturity Assessment is completed, your
SF Project Lead will review the results with your team. If desired, the results can be reviewed and mapped to
the assessment answers that most influence the scoring. This step will ensure that your team understands
and is aligned with the maturity level recommended as your starting point. If necessary, we can change some
of the original BizX Maturity Assessment answers to reach the desired BizX Maturity level starting point.

STEP 4: System Administrator and Setup Training - Our next step is to enable your System Administrators
with detailed system administration and setup training. Training will cover:



Data Import processes
STEP 5: Best Presentation of Best Practice Configuration - Next, we will make available a self-paced
presentation of your “Best Practice Configuration”. The presentation is used to give your team an initial
familiarization with your go-live configuration and can also be used as a reference guide post go-live.

STEP 6: Configuration Refinement and System Setup - Once trained, you and your implementation
consultant will work together to complete any configuration refinements that are permitted within the scope of
BizXpress. You will also leverage the data setup training to setup your TEST environment. Refinement and
data setup scope for Succession include:


Define the color and labels for use on the matrix grids defining your talent.







Customer can remove matrix grid if not ready and add at a later time.
Customer can add hyperlinks to matrix grid cells for how-to guides, etc.
Icons on matrix grids can be modified with SF library of images (this refinement is currently
unavailable for Succession Org Chart)
Edit Live Profile Portlet Labels & Descriptions
Order of profile and scorecards items can be modified
Configure Succession Default Dates for Live Profile Ratings

OneAdmin / Wizard Specific


Development Plans – label the plan name to customer specs
Development Plans fields can be renamed and re-ordered
STEP 7: End User Train-the-Trainer - End user enablement is accomplished through a “Train-the-Trainer”
approach.

STEP 8: Testing and Validation - Now we will unleash your trained users and administrators on your TEST
instance to practice what they’ve learned. Scripts will be provided that help users organize their practice time
and facilitate data validation. Your implementation consultant will be available by email during this period to
answer any questions and provide general support.

STEP 9: PROD Setup - Now that we have validated your configuration and data setup in TEST we can set up
your PROD instance and begin to prepare for Go-Live. You will work with your configuration consultant to
setup your initial Production environment.

STEP 10: Go-Live Checklist - Our final step includes completing our BizXpress go-live checklist. Once
completed, the checklist activities will enable a smooth and successful system go-live in you PROD
environment. The final item on the checklist is a formal signoff that your PROD environment is ready to go
live.

STEP 11: Customer Success Transition - In preparation for go-live we will present processes and
procedures for interacting with our SF Customer Success organization. The Customer Success transition
package includes:

CORE DELIVERABLES: BizXpress Deliverables include:

BizX Maturity Assessment - A set of business questions that will identify the appropriate level of best
practice functionality to be initially deployed through BizXpress

Product Demonstration Presentations - Narrated presentations that will give the customer a deep
understanding of the best practice configurations and opportunities for refinement

One-time Data Migration Process - Instructions and templates to allow the customer to migrate data from
legacy systems prior to go-live

Administrator and User Training - Interactive presentations that will enable admin and user personnel to
fully utilize the application upon go-live

Fully configured instance of SuccessFactors Succession Management Application - Our Succession
Management product up and ready to operate in the customers production environment

Formal Cutover to SuccessFactors Customer Success - Processes, documentation and instructions on
how to get valuable support once you go live.
