On Sunday, February 15, we will have a special “Healing Service” at both the 9 AM and 11:15 AM
services. Therefore, I want to strongly encourage and invite you, friends and family to come, all who may
benefit from this glorious opportunity, to be prayed for and over. Please be much in prayer for these
services and let’s stand together on the Word of God which says, 13 “Is any one of you in trouble? He
should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call
the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the
prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will
be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be
healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (James 5:13-16 NIV) Pastor David
New Member/Enquirer Class: Would you like to know more about NEUMC? Join us this afternoon
at 3:30 PM in the Education Building in the Youth Rooms as we present an overview of what it means
to be a Methodist; a brief presentation of the various ministries at NEUMC; and inviting you to ask
questions you might have. Childcare is provided.
The UMW will meet tomorrow evening at 7 PM in room 102. Please come and join us! Point of contact

The Wholly Oldies will meet this Tuesday, February 10. We will meet earlier than usual at 9:30 AM
to do some cleaning in the church building. At 11:30 we'll enjoy a potluck lunch. Hope to see you

Ladies! Sign up now for the annual Ladies Appreciation Dinner to be held Monday, February 16 at
6:30 PM. All NEUMC ladies are invited to enjoy this evening dining experience hosted by the NEUMC
UMM. Gentlemen of NEUMC, you are invited to dine with your favorite lady, but you are also invited
to show your appreciation for all the ladies by signing up now to help as a server. Thank you for your
support in making this a great evening for our favorite ladies.

The women of the Spirit Sisters prayer group invite you to join us on Wednesday mornings at
10 AM for a midweek time of sharing prayers, praises and concerns together. Point of contact is
Jennifer Breazeale at 408-9634.
The Methodist Student Network (Columbia Wesley Foundation) at USC will be hosting its second
annual barbecue fundraiser to help cover costs associated with its Spring Break mission trip to
Misahualli, Ecuador. If you’d like to help this group provide a medical and dental clinic and work on
constructing a new building, please sign up on the sheet in the narthex. The barbeque is $10 per
pound. If you have any questions, please see Mitch Watford. Thank you.
The Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper (also known as Fat Tuesday) is February 17,
5:30-8:30. This year the Uganda Mission Team will be hosting the supper and donations will go to
support their upcoming mission trip in July. Invite friends and share this information so we can reach
beyond our doors. We will provide the pancakes and fixings and you get a meal with no mess. There
is no set cost for the meal. Please give what you feel led to donate for this mission trip.
An Ash Wednesday Service will be held on February 18 at 7 PM as we gather for a solemn service
of self-examination and repentance. The worship includes the imposition of ashes in which the ashes
from last year’s palms presented on Palm Sunday are used to make the sign of the cross on the
foreheads of the repentant worshippers. The sign of the cross is a confirmation of our forgiveness,
which comes from Jesus Christ as we freely confess our sin before him.
Our Kairos Weekend #52 will be held at Camille Griffin Graham Correctional Institution March 12-15.
The prison is located on Broad River Road and is where over 600 women are incarcerated. I am
requesting that members of the NE family sign up for our prayer vigil by going into

attending closing, please contact me at 699-6557. All who attend have to be approved beforehand.

Acts 12:11-18 (NIV)
11 Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I
know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his
angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and
from everything the Jewish people were hoping
would happen.”
12 When this had dawned on him, he went to the
house of Mary the mother of John, also called
Mark, where many people had gathered and were
praying.
13 Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a
servant named Rhoda came to answer the door.
14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was
so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and
exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!”
15 “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When
she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must
be his angel.”
16 But Peter kept on knocking, and when they
opened the door and saw him, they were
astonished.
17 Peter motioned with his hand for them to be
quiet and described how the Lord had brought
him out of prison. “Tell James and the other
brothers and sisters about this,” he said, and then
he left for another place.
18 In the morning, there was no small commotion
among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter.

MINISTRY AND PRAYER NEEDS
▪ Miriam Simpson, Pastor David's mother, recovering from gallbladder removal surgery.
▪ Mia Bella, 3 weeks old, who was born without kidneys. She is at MUSC on dialysis
waiting for a possible donor.
▪ Camilla Riley, mother of Sean Riley, recovering from back surgery.
▪ Edie Heandon McCurry, cousin of Amy Malcom, recovering from surgery.
▪ Ella Nichols, great granddaughter of Rev. George Nichols, who had a malignant tumor
removed from her chest at MUSC and will begin chemotherapy. Ella is 5 years old.
▪ Jim Lackey, Ann Payne’s uncle, who has recurrent lung cancer and is undergoing
chemotherapy which is making him sick. Pray for ease of treatment and healing.
▪ Sheryl Preacher, sister of Cynthia Spinnato and Jennifer Breazeale, who was diagnosed
with Stage 4 cancer that originated from her lung. She is undergoing chemotherapy.
▪ Rev. Curtis Felkel, pastor of Cattle Creek UMC and Bethel UMC, who has been
diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer.
▪ Our military personnel.
▪ Our missionaries: Tom & Emma Henry — Appalachian Mountain Leadership (AML),
a ministry based in Boone, NC, which facilitates Christian outdoor adventure experiences.
Matt & Jenny Williams ([email protected]) — Matt is a member of NEUMC,
who works as a missionary to university students with Cru with the Indianapolis Metro
team in Indianapolis, Indiana, which consists of two campuses, Butler and IUPUI (an
Indiana University located downtown). Steve & Stephanie Bredesen, in Nakalanda,
Uganda, as directors of Eagle’s Nest Clinic and Eaglet’s Primary School. Abbu, the
Bredesen's neighbor, that he will either allow them to drill a well on his land or sell the
land to them so that they will have a fresh water supply. Ben & Jenny Reyes: Ben, born
in Puerto Rico, and Jenny, born in Brazil, have ministered in Brazil and Paraguay since
their marriage in 1989. They have two sons, Phillipe and Mathias. The Reyes work
locally in discipleship, leading Inductive Bible Study seminars, and teaching on the
subjects of church planting, mission to Muslims, mission in the local church, and effective
short-term mission trips.
