Resource Locker Explore Understanding the Parent Quadratic Function A function that can be represented in the form of ƒ(x) = ax 2 + bx + c is called a quadratic function. The terms a, b, and c, are constants where a ≠ 0. The greatest exponent of the variable x is 2. The most basic quadratic function is ƒ(x)= x 2, which is the parent quadratic function.
