Auditions for Ceremonies Performers and
Dancers
Auditions will take place on Sunday, February 22, 2015
B5C are seeking male and female dancers aged 13 years or older for the TORONTO 2015 Pan
Am Closing Ceremony and the TORONTO 2015 Parapan Am Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
Individual and group performers with experience in culturally-based dance styles such as the ones
below are encouraged to apply:






Caribbean: Mas Band style
Argentina: tango
Philippines: tinikling
China: tai-chi style dancers
Ireland: traditional Irish step-dancing
Brazil: capoeira
B5C is also seeking dancers and performers with acrobatic, parkour and/or climbing skills.
This will be a unique chance to perform in front of thousands of live spectators and millions of
television viewers through international and domestic broadcasts. You’ll also have the opportunity
to work with some of the most experienced choreographers in the industry, such as:
 Director Paul Becker
 Choreographers Jeff Dimitriou (Pan Am Closing Ceremony) and Melissa
Williams (Parapan Am Opening and Closing Ceremonies) and Paul Becker

Audition Requirements
1. Experience performing in one or more of the above culturally-based dance styles.
2. Must be 13 years of age or older as of April 20, 2015. Proof of age will be requested at the
audition.
3. Available during all rehearsal and showtimes and dates. Please do not audition if you are not
available for the following times and dates:
Workshop rehearsals
 Evening sessions once per week starting on April 20, 2015
Full cast rehearsals
 July 4–25, August 2–6 and August 10–14, 2015
Show dates
 Pan Am Closing Ceremony: July 26, 2015
 Parapan Am Opening Ceremony: August 7, 2015
 Parapan Am Closing Ceremony: August 15, 2015
4. Reside in Toronto during the rehearsal period and show days.
Important Audition Information
How to register
If you meet the requirements above, please register. Once you’ve complete your registration,
you will receive an email with the application ID. Closer to the audition date, you will receive a
second email with the location of the audition and any other relevant information.
What to wear
Dancewear, street shoes or jazz shoes. Women must wear a form-fitting outfit and makeup and
be show ready. Children do not need to wear make-up. Please bring samples of the costumes
you would wear to perform your specific cultural dance style. You should aim to wear clothing
that is free of commercial branding.
How to prepare
Individuals: Solo performers do not need to prepare a routine for this audition. The
choreography team will play music specific to the roles they are seeking and will ask you to
freestyle in a specific cultural style alongside other individual audition candidates.
Groups: Please prepare a one-minute example of your dance style. Please bring your own
music (iPod, CD) and wear your full costume.

Photos and registration
B5C will take photos of your face and full body, and will take your measurements during check
in. You will also be asked to complete a registration form that will include information required to
complete the TORONTO 2015 accreditation process, so please bring government issued photo
ID. B5C is collecting this information from everyone who auditions, whether you are cast or not.
Performers aged 13 to 16
If you are between the ages of 13 and 16 as of April 20, 2015, we will also send out by e-mail a
Parental Authorization Form for your parent or guardian’s signature. A hard copy must be
brought to the audition and, if possible, your parent or guardian will accompany you for the
entire audition day.
If your parent or guardian cannot be with you for the whole day of the audition, an acting
guardian (as determined by your parent/guardian) must accompany you for the audition’s
duration. Please complete the Designation of a Guardian Form and attach with the Parental
Authorization Form. Your parent or designated guardian must bring both documents to the
audition team at the beginning of the day.
Compensation and expenses
Please note neither TO2015 nor B5C Productions will provide compensation for any expenses
incurred by candidates participating in these auditions. This is an audition for B5C Productions
created exclusively for the Closing Ceremony of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games, as well
as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the TORONTO 2015 Parapan Am Games.
If selected, you will participate voluntarily in this project. You will not be given any monetary
compensation for participation.
Callbacks
Callbacks will take place on the same day as the audition.
Meals during auditions
Meals will not be provided. B5C recommend that you bring your lunch since the audition may
take all day.
Deadline for Registration
Immediately Spaces are limited and invitations to audition will be on a first-come, first-served
basis.
