Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your student has expressed an interest in participating in the 2014 Morehead State
University Tri-State Middle School Band Clinic! The date for this event is Saturday,
November 22nd. Please read over the details (below) with your student and have your
student bring this letter back no later than Monday, September 22nd.
When:
Saturday, November 22nd 2014. This is an all-day event. We will
travel from Crosby to Morehead State University via school bus.
Times will be determined at a later time; however, you can expect
an early departure time and late return time.
Where:
Morehead State University, Morehead, KY
What:
12th Annual MSU Tri-State Middle School Band Clinic. Students
from Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky are selected to participate
in this prestigious clinic. Students will participate in an all-day
rehearsal with their honor band and perform in a concert later
that evening.
Selection Process: Because several hundred apply for this clinic, no student is
guaranteed a placement. Those interested can either audition or
request a nomination from his/her director. Students are highly
encouraged to audition because it increases their chances to
attend the clinic. Auditions will be held in the band room after
school on Wednesday, October 8th from 2:30-4:00. Those wishing
to be nominated or audition must check the line below and have
this letter signed by a parent/guardian. Once MSU has selected
participants, Mr. Stivers will send a follow-up letter.
Audition Process: Students wishing to audition must perform: a chromatic scale, the
MSU audition excerpts (#80 and/or #99), and one of the two
audition pieces for the 2014 JCPS All-County Band. Students will
be recorded via mp3 and submitted by Mr. Stivers to MSU after
school on Wednesday, October 8th 2014 from 2:30-4:00pm.
