LIMAVADY PARISH BULLETIN 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time 15
CONSECRATION TO MARY As we prepare for the beginning of Lent 2015, we are always looking for something to challenge us in this penitential season. This year, we, the priests of the parish, propose an enormous challenge to our families. This challenge consists of our families praying the rosary together each night during Lent. This will certainly be a tough challenge but one that will be of great benefit for our relationship with Christ. But there is a second part to this challenge which is the 33 Day Consecration to Mary. There will be a book to assist us with this challenge called ‘33 Days to Morning Glory’ which will be available in the parish from Ash Wednesday at all Masses. The book costs £6 but any donation is sufficient. The great John Paul II used this Consecration and said it is the easiest way to come to Jesus. The Consecration can be done at home, but we will also do the Consecration each day after the 10.00 am Mass in the parish for those who wish to do it together. The Consecration consists of reading a short meditation each day on the life of a saint and then praying the rosary, all which is contained in the book. The great Fr Patrick Peyton once said “the family that prays together, stays together”, so we pray this Lent, through the intercession of Mary our Mother, for family unity, and for the strengthening of our relationship with Jesus. CEMETERY SUNDAY St Mary’s Sunday 7 June at 6.00 pm. Christ the King Sunday 7 June. The 10.00 am Mass will be offered for those buried at Christ the King followed by a graveside service immediately after Mass. St Finlough’s Sunday 28 June at 3.00 pm. This collection which is taken up throughout all parishes in the country, goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of the Sacred Shines in the Holy Land. The small number of Christians who live in the Holy Land are poor and do not have the resources to maintain these Holy Sites. It therefore falls to the Churches throughout the world to help these people preserve our Sacred sites. _________________________________________________________________ St Mary’s St Mary’s Christ the King St Finlough’s Stations of the Cross: Every Friday after 10.00 am Mass “THOUGHTS” ANNUAL PRAYER SERVICE on Sun 15 Feb at 7 pm in St Mary’s, Rasharkin. He was not just carrying out his duty - he was touched by the man and really wanted to help and to heal him. What if we were to live by this simple phrase? You may have heard of people taking on an experiment whereby they said ‘yes’ to everything they were asked in a particular day. Some people make new year resolutions to say ‘yes’ more or to be more positive. Why not make ‘Of course I want to!’ our motto today? We might find ourselves more prepared to respond to requests for help. We might spend more time playing with our children, or visit our loved ones more often. We may be able to approach our work with more enthusiasm, or go along to Mass with more of a sense of joy than habit. Have a look at the Second Reading today. Paul encourages us to try to be helpful to everyone at all times, to be anxious for others rather than for ourselves—with the ultimate goal of bringing others to salvation. If we recognise the dignity of all our brothers and sisters, and realise we have a part to play in helping to bring God to them and them to God, we might just find ourselves responding to others’ needs with a resounding ‘Of course I want to!’ COLLECTION FOR SUNDAY 8 FEBRUARY 2015 Town Churches £3,235.00 Ballykelly £565.00 VOCATIONS INFORMATION DAY on Saturday 21 February 2015 from 11.00 am - 4.00 pm in Ardstraw House, Buncrana Road, Derry To confirm attendance please contact Fr Paul Farren, Diocesan Vocations Director, [email protected] or telephone 028 71 26 4087. “To become a Priest or a religious is not primarily our choice; it is our answer to a calling, a calling of love” Pope Francis LOUGH DERG will hold an ecumenical celebration of Friendship & Prayer on Ash Wednesday, 18 Feb from 10.30 am - 3.00 pm.
