LEARNING OBJECTIVES and INTERNSHIP TERMS OF REFERENCE The mission of the ITCILO Programme for Employers’ Activities is to assist employers’ organizations around the world in becoming representative and effective voices of business. We believe that employers and business associations can make significant contributions to creating the conditions for sustainable development. Our objective is to help national employers’ organizations better to fulfill their role as: advocates of business-conducive policies, providers of services to their members’ representative and effective development partners, experts and partners with regard to ILO strategic objectives. Our activities: We train employers’ organizations to become strong partners in economic and social development and to provide better services to their members. Besides training, we also develop training materials. This is essential to meeting the needs of employer organizations, responding to their particular concerns and taking their ways of working into account. Moreover, on behalf of employer organizations, and in partnership with them, we manage capacity-building programmes financed by donor agencies. We run courses both in Turin and in the field. Our approach to capacity-building is to research and apply the lessons learned from employer organizations’ good practice. Our interactive learning methodology provides tailormade practical knowledge and guidance to participants. Ms. Jeanne Schmitt /Mr. Arnout de Koster The internship at the ACTEMP programme of ITCILO is intended to fit the candidate’s interests and aspirations and contribute to his/her career development. The candidate will take an active role within the team and will benefit from the programme’s training focus. In particular, by the end of this experience, he/she will gain a practical hand-on experience relating to the employers’ organizations management, to the technical knowledge in the area of Business Organizations management and the relations they have with their company members. The internship will also provide a deep knowledge of the mission of ITCILO and a broad understanding of the ILO in general. Finally, the diverse multicultural backgrounds of the ITCILO will provide an excellent learning environment to grow a global view. The Programme for Employers Activities of the ITC ILO is gradually strengthening its training offer on “Corporate Social Responsibility, Business and Human Rights” for Employers Organizations’ staff and for companies. A series of training activities are foreseen in 2015 and 2016 on these topics as well as the development of new training materials (eLearning tool, Guide etc.). The objective of the planned training workshops is to give participants the necessary information and tools to work more effectively in the area of CSR and Human Rights, and notably to learn more about the global policy framework on CSR and Human Rights; to understand what corporate responsibilities regarding Human Rights are and how companies can meet their obligations (due diligence processes); to discuss companies’ good practices notably when managing their supply chain as well as to share experiences with other Employers Organizations on how to assist companies in their CSR and Human Rights due diligence activities. In this framework, the role of the intern will be to • Assist the Activity managers in the organization and implementation of the training activities on CSR, Business and Human Rights; • Contribute to the development of training material for Employers’ Organizations and companies on CSR related topics; • Collect data, material and conduct analysis (case studies) on CSR policies and practices of SMEs in Europe; • Support other colleagues team in the organization, monitoring and delivery of the training activities organized on the ITCILO Campus or at distance during the period of internship; • Contribute actively to the content management and further improvement of the Programme’s internet platform Lempnet – Learning employers’ Network (http://lempnet.ictilo.org). REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/PROFILE Enrolled on a graduate or postgraduate course or recently completed graduate or postgraduate studies in Economics or Law with a focus on Labour Relations. Excellent command of English is a requirement. Proficiency in another of the following languages is an asset: Arabic, French, Russian and/or Spanish. Excellent IT literacy, including very good command of Office Package and ability to operate with on-line web-based application. Experience in working with databases desirable.
