Most of us have heard or read fables. A fable is a story with a moral. Let us read
Aesops Fables: Aesop was a slave who lived in Ancient Greece many years before the birth of Jesus Christ. He is credited with having written these fables
while he was in prison.
Panchatantra: Panchatantra is a collection of stories in five volumes, written in
Sanskrit by Vishnu Sharma. ‘Panchatantra ‘means ‘five doctrines of conduct’. A
few of the fables in the Panchatantra are common to those in Aesop’s Fables.
Jataka Tales: The Jataka Tales is a collection of some 550 short stories of wisdom and morals. In each of the stories, Lord Buddha appears as a creature in
one of his former lives- sometimes as an animal and sometimes as a person.

Do we sit in a chair or on a chair? Many of us are confused. Don’t be, the solution is
simple. If the chair has arms then you sit in the chair. However, if the chair does not
hane arms, then you sit on it. If we do not know the nature of the chair being spoken
about, then it is safe to use ‘in’.

Many of us say return back. This is incorrect. The word return means to give back. If you say
return back then you are actually saying to give back back. Remember never to use the word
back with return. It is the same with the word comprises which means consists of. Hence, we
never use the world of after the word comprise.
