Considering food safety as an important issue, this year’s theme for World Health Day 2015
is Food safety. Worldwide, there are approximately 2 million deaths annually linked to
unsafe food. Unsafe food can lead to health hazards ranging from diarrhoea to cancers
attributed by the viruses, bacteria, parasites and different chemical substances. The area
which is considered as an orphan and very few takers come forward for strengthening food
safety and nutrition, the symposium will bring together the future public health experts for a
common cause at a platform where they will be enlightened by the experts about the area of
growing concern and their possible solutions. It is also an opportunity to alert people working
in the area of food safety and nutrition as well as the consumers about its relevance and
importance.
Department of Community Medicine & Family Medicine, All India Institute of Medical
Sciences (AIIMS) Jodhpur is organizing symposium on “Food Safety: From farm to plate
make food safe” on 6th & 7th April, 2015.
