PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title: Out of Hours Support Worker Responsible to: Team Leader REQUIREMENT ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Education/Qualifications Good standard of secondary education with qualification in GCSE English or equivalent Qualification in housing management, social work, nursing or teaching Excellent IT skills NVQ Level 2 or above EVIDENCED I/A FOR ALL A Level English Language or Literature or equivalent Recognised training in domestic abuse e.g. CAADA Ability to speak a second language Experience of working with a computerised case management system Work Experience 2 years relevant work experience in an advice giving role/supporting vulnerable families and/or children Experience of working with victims of domestic abuse Clear understanding and awareness of domestic abuse and the effects on victims and their families Knowledge of legal, DWP and Welfare Rights Issues Clear understanding of responsibilities with regard to safeguarding vulnerable adults and children I/A FOR ALL Advocacy work experience Experience of managing challenging behaviours Training undertaken in safeguarding Drug and alcohol addiction awareness Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels Experience of creating and delivering presentations I/A FOR ALL Proven ability in report writing Attention to detail Good basic numeracy skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team Possession of full valid driving licence and ability to travel to different locations as necessary Organisation and Motivation Able to prioritise workload I/A FOR ALL Able to work on own initiative Able to cope well under pressure Able to understand and ensure confidential working practices Prepared to attend for relevant training Able to understand the need to adhere to employer’s policies and procedures Equal Opportunities Ability to demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and of other peoples’ behaviour, physical social and welfare needs I/A FOR ALL Health & Safety Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to Health & Safety and a willingness to undertake training to enable implementation of procedures.
