Every single class has HIT the target!! Family Learning Our Family learning sessions will continue on Monday mornings through the spring term. The children really enjoyed their first session and I am confident that parents and grandparents are finding the sessions valuable in their support with children’s home learning. Privilege Card Reward As a reward for receiving 5 privilege cards during autumn and spring half terms some children will be allowed to have their own non-uniform Day on Friday 27th February. Children should have already brought their special privilege card letter home by now. Parent Forum Members of our parent forum met at the end of term and shared their views with members of the senior leadership team. Our next meeting takes place on Monday 23 rd March. Thank you to the parents who were able to make the meeting and for your suggestions on how to improve what we are doing for our children. It is vitally important that school and home work together closely so that we can do the best for our children. Friends of St Stephens Thank you for your support with the PTA film night last term and the Valentines disco at the end of term. The next event will be the End of term Easter Disco which takes place on Friday 27th March. The next meeting of the Friends of St Stephens takes place on Wednesday 11th March and parents and grandparents are more than welcome. We will be planning ahead for the summer term which is always packed with exciting activities for our children. Children are already talking about the St Stephens Got Talent Evening!! World Book Day This takes place on Friday 6th March and the children as usual are very excited about the prospect of joining in. The school council have met with Miss Davies and decided that they want to dress up as book characters. We also have our Extreme Reading Competition and I know that lots of children have been busy snapping themselves reading over the half term. Children will participate in a range of book making activities throughout the day. Prizes will be awarded to the most exciting photographs brought into school on the day. We also have the Travelling Book Fair visiting school on Wednesday 25th February until Tuesday 3rd March. Parents can purchase books from 8.30am each morning and after school each day. Please support us by buying your child a new book. The commission on sales is very good and we are able to purchase brand new books for our school library. Your support with this in the past has been fantastic. Red Nose Day This takes place on Friday 13th March and the children have decided that they will make their faces FUNNY for red nose day. It will be a non-uniform day and the children can bring in £1 towards the Red Nose collection. We will also be selling the Snotty Professor, Astrosnort, Snoutdracula and many more Red Noses. Children can buy these for a pound from Monday 9th March. After School Clubs During spring term (now the weather is improving??) children can take part in a range of after school clubs. It is important that arrangements are made to have children collected by a responsible adult from the safe area outside year 4 and 5. Children must not be collected from the front entrance as this is used by FABBS Parents, Parents who allow children to walk home must make school aware of this if they haven’t done already. We do not encourage children younger than Year 5 to walk home by themselves.
