T.R.I.P. - The February 18 orders will be ready for pickup tomorrow, February 25, after 9:30 a.m. Today’s
order will be ready for pickup next week Wednesday, March 4.

BOOK COLLECTION: The table is filling! We are collecting children’s books this week that will be used in an
adult education program at Beckwith School. They are trying to build up a library of books in hopes that the
adults can use them for practice and borrow the books and take them home to read to their families. Books
may be placed on the tables outside the library.
MARCH PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES -- Conferences will take place next week on the evenings of March
4 and 5, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Spring conferences are mandatory for Preschool and Young 5s and by request
for K-8 parents. Online signups are going well for PreK – 5th grade parents. Middle school teachers and special
subject teachers will be available in the gym for conferences with parents in an open format (no need to
schedule) between 5:30 – 8:30 on both Wednesday and Thursday. Teachers will be putting in two very long
days. No school on Friday, the 6th.
ALL-SCHOOL BAKE SALE TOMORROW! Send a quarter! Tomorrow we will be selling baked goods before the
morning recess time. All baked goods are 25 cents and the proceeds go to the Miller family for their work in
Mexico with the Wycliffe translators. The following moms are scheduled to bake: Kerri Stonehouse, Jen
Warsen, Gina Mast, Michelle Reyers, Jodi Alvestseffer, Sonia Wielhouwer, Sue Offringa, Amy Rynbrandt,
Stephanie Haisma, Tara Berghuis, Marlene Alvarez, Brenda VanderHeide, and Judy Peterman. Please drop off
your peanut-free treats to the kitchen tomorrow morning. Thanks!
CONGRATULATION TO OUR WSCS ODYSSEY of the MIND TEAMS!! All three teams received medals! The
middle school team received bronze medals, and just missed going to state by 1 point, out of 350 points. The
combined middle school/elementary team that competed at the middle school level, also received bronze
medals, and just missed going to state by 2 points. Our elementary team received silver medals, and will be
advancing to the state competition on March 21st. Also, a special thank you to our volunteer coaches who put
in months of work -- Sophie Werkhoven, Stephanie Gaastra, Julie Rodenhouse, Meg DuShane, Shelly DeHaan,
Janet Staal and Nina VanHeulen. We are so very proud of how all team members and coaches represented
West Side Christian!

WSCS SPORTSCARD AND COLLECTIBLE SHOW. Next week Saturday, March 7, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
ADMISSION IS FREE. There will be 40+ tables with 30+ dealers selling, trading, and buying sports cards and
collectibles. Food and drink will be available for purchase during the event hours. We also welcome, special
guest, DAN PETRY- FORMER PITCHER FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP 1984 DETROIT TIGERS. If you enjoy sports,
this is a great way to spend a Saturday with the family. We are looking forward to a great Saturday at WSCS!

BOX TOPS – FEBRUARY COLLECTIONS: This is the last week for classroom collections of box tops for the
February competition. Send them in! Classroom winners will be announced next week.
WSCS “BUDS”: Have you heard about our new BUDS program for moms and tots? BUDS is a fun program for
parents and their kids, ages infant – kindergarten. This Friday, February 27, Mrs. VanGoor will be working with
the kids and parents to introduce a variety of activities that help strengthen and develop little fingers and fine
motor skills. Parents, please park out front and enter through the main doors. After getting a name tag, you
will be directed to the library where the fun begins. Spread the word, and see you Friday!
WSCS AUCTION 2015 IS COMING! Save the date of April 25th to join us for a fun evening. There will be lots of
great items to bid on and a delicious Mexican buffet provided by On The Boarder! Driving WSCS Forward is
our theme as we are raising funds for a new bus! Find links to our Facebook page and donor sponsorship
letter on the schools website.
TARGET Take Charge of Education: A check was recently received in the amount of $185 from the Target
Take Charge of Education program. Target donates 1% of purchases to designated schools. Thanks for
designating West Side Christian!
Requested Announcements
Calvin Christian High School Dramatic Society presents “RUN FOR THE MONEY!” a mystery farce by Pat Cook.
Performances will be given at 7pm on February 26, 27 & 28 at Godwin Heights High School Auditorium, 50-35th St,
Wyoming, MI. Tickets may be purchased at the Calvin High School office (beginning Monday, Feb 16) or at the door.
Prices are $10.00 for Adults and $8.00 for Students. Punch and Cookies will be available for donation during
Intermission. If anyone is interested in becoming a Patron of this production, more information is available by calling the
High School office at 538-0990.

Attention Women: Westend CRC would like to invite women of any age to join us Saturday morning, March 21, 2015
for a women's retreat. Treat yourself to listening to speaker, author and overcomer, Cindy Bultema. Her topic is on
Laughter, Lice and Lemonade. We will also all have a chance to paint a pottery craft from "Paint a Pot". 8:45- 1pm, cost
