Fall Fun and “Fun-kin”
Decorating Contest
Do you like fall? I know I do, and even though it
still feels a bit like summer, we’re going to
celebrate its arrival with a night full of fall fun
and snacks! There will be games out on the front
lawn as well as indoor games and crafts to do. If
fall snacking is more your style, there will be fall
snack mixes, candy/caramel apples, mini pumpkin
pies, as well as popcorn and cider. During the
event we will also have pumpkins available to
creatively decorate as well as items to help with
this (paint, recycled items, craft foam, etc.) for
our “Fun-kin” Decorating Contest. This event is
open to all kids aged 2yr-5th grade (though we
do ask that children who are 2-PreK have an adult
present with them). This event will be FREE, so
you have no excuse not to come out for what is
sure to be a great time! So join us on Friday,
October 21, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship
Hall!
JAM Update
Our class has been learning about Genesis the last
few weeks as part of our journey through the Bible.
During our studies we’ve been encouraging the
children to memorize scriptures. Here are two
verses that you can practice with them so that they
can not only earn prizes in class, but also, so they
can begin to hide the Word in their hearts.
• “If you do what is right, will you not be
accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is
crouching at your door: it desires to have you, but
you must master it.” -Genesis 4:7 NIV (1st-2nd
graders are asked to memorize the bolded parts
only).
• “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this:
Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak,
and slow to become angry. -James 1:19 NIV
During the next few weeks, we will also begin
rehearsals and filming of our Christmas Pageant that
will be in December. This year’s pageant will
involve filming skits to go along with some live
action scenes on stage. More information will be
going home regarding this soon.
All youth and young adults are
invited to be part of . . .
Book Club
Monster by Frank Peretti

George Kemp, Jr.’s House
Something's
Out there...
Reed Shelton organized this survival weekend.
Hired the best guide in the region. Meticulously
trained, studied, and packed while encouraging
his wife, Beck, to do the same. But little did they
know that surviving the elements would become
the least of their worries. During their first night
of camping, an unearthly wail pierces the calm of
the forest. Then someone--no, something--emerges
from the dense woods and begins pursuing them.
Everything that follows is a blur to Reed--except for
the unforgettable image of a huge creature carrying
his wife into the darkness. Dependant on the efforts
of a small town and a band of friends, Reed knows
they have little time to find Beck. Even more
important, he soon realizes that they aren't the only
ones doing the hunting. Something much faster,
more relentless--and definitely not human--has
begun to hunt them.
Frank Peretti is at the top of his game in this
New York Times best-selling novel of "survival
of the fittest." Nothing is as it first appears in this
thriller where things that go bump in the night are
only a heartbeat away.

passion for hitting a ball over a net; someone
who just knows they could make the Olympic

one night; or someone who would like to get a
good laugh.
What: Anna Gemeinhart and Stephanie Powell
are hosting a volleyball night. This will be a fun
time to come, play some v-ball, hang out and
fellowship. We will also be bringing in a couple
of ringers. With any luck they will be on your
team!
Where: Power Challengers’ Ministry
playground (the one with the volleyball net).
When: Monday, October 10, from
