WHO Advanced Course on Health Financing for Universal Coverage for Low and Middle Income Countries 8-12 June 2015 Barcelona, Spain The World Health Organization is pleased to announce its second Advanced Course on Health Financing for Universal Coverage for low and middle income countries to be held from the 8th-12th June 2015. This week‑long advanced training program is based on the Barcelona Course on Health Financing currently offered by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, but incorporates new materials to reflect the context and of low and middle income countries globally. COURSE CONTENT PARTICIPANTS The course is structured around the different functions of health financing policy and their role in improving health system performance, in particular progressing towards universal health coverage: This is an advanced course and participants are expected to have extensive and relevant work experience in health financing policy and previous training in health systems and policy issues. If you are a policy maker, advisor and analyst in the health and social sectors, senior manager of a service provider organization or health insurance fund, or another stakeholder in government, the private sector or civil society and engage in strategic policy discussions on health financing policy, this course is for you. ›› Raising revenues – opportunities and constraints ›› Pooling health revenues – the cost of fragmentation ›› Purchasing – more health for the money through payment reforms ›› Designing a benefit package – equity, affordability and transparency ›› Health financing and public finance management – aligning for implementation ›› Coordinating reform – aligning policy instruments with policy objectives This course will be delivered exclusively in English. APPLICATIONS AND DEADLINES Places on the course are limited. Online applications must be submitted by midnight Geneva time on Thursday 5th March 2015.
