Infographic Assignment - English I Pre-AP
Pre-AP English I Literature -- Shakespeare An Introduction to Shakespeare via Infographics TASK: Your task is to create an infographic (either digital or handmade) poster (no larger than one 8 ½” x 11” piece of paper) about your group’s assigned topic about Shakespeare. On the back of the infographic, cite the sources used in ascertaining information. If you know how to create an MLA-formatted “Works Cited” page, then please use that format. If you do not know how to create and format a “Works Cited” page, then simply pasting the URL is fine. However, you might try using sites like: http://www.easybib.com/ or http://www.bibme.org/ to help with the creation of an MLA-formatted “Works Cited” page. STRATEGIES BEING ASSESSED: Your finished infographic will count as a QUIZ grade. You need to be able to synthesize information regarding your group’s topic. The point of synthesis is to summarize and combine the pieces of information that you have accumulated during research into a cohesive, streamlined document. Instead of merely copy/pasting or summarizing, you will categorize, analyze, combine, extract details, and re-assess the information you have gathered about your topic. TOPICS: 1) Shakespeare’s life 2) The Globe 3) Nature of drama/theater within historical context of Shakespeare’s time 4) Elizabethan culture 5) Romeo and Juliet 6) Genres of Shakespeare’s plays: tragedy, history, comedies 7) Shakespeare in popular culture WHAT IS AN INFOGRAPHIC?: ● TechTarget defines an “infographic” as: (n.) information graphic; a representation of information in a graphic format designed to make the data easily understandable at a glance ○ This means that the volume of information that you find during research should be condensed and synthesized so that you put the most important pieces of information regarding your topic onto the infographic. ● It may help you to look at examples of infographics.
