Young Scarborough Swimmers Medal at Yorkshire Champs Young Scarborough Swimming Club Swimmers Amy Corcoran, aged 12 and Jace Cappleman, aged 16, won silver and bronze medals at this month’s Yorkshire Swimming Championships. Amy came second in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 37. 84 seconds, a personal best. She also came 3rd in the 200m breaststroke event with a time of 3.01.75. She just lost out on her place on the podium in the 100m breaststroke where she took the 5 th place position. Her success in the breaststroke events was also mirrored in the 200 and 400m freestyle and the 100m fly where she reached the finals, making top 10 positions. Jace won a bronze medal in the 800m freestyle event with a time of 9.32.39. She also took 6th place in the 400m freestyle. Another 6 swimmers, not to mention the girls’ relay team won top 10 places in this meet. Swimmers Joe Kelly, Nathan Mundy, Becky Cox, Lizzie Swift, Luke Kelly and Alex Lynn all made it to the finals of their respective heats. The 15/16yrs girls’ relay team (Eleanor Woodroffe, Jace Cappleman, Lizzie Swift and Emma Clapton) also took top 10 positions, narrowly missing out on medals. They came 4th in the freestyle relay and 5th in the medley relay. In total Scarborough Swimming Club won 25 top 10 positions in the competition. Club President Sam Greetham said “Scarborough Swimming Club are always well represented in the finals of the Yorkshire Championships. This is what our swimmers and coaches have been working towards. This has been another very successful meet and even where our swimmers didn’t win medals or make it to finals, they swam in personal best times”. See Photos Below:
