March 4, 2015
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It has been a little more than a month since the official Kindred/
Gentiva close and already we have seen great collaboration and
partnership between our teams. Many of you have shared photos
and stories to express your enthusiasm and pride for our combined
organization. We encourage all of you to continue connecting and
looking for ways to learn from each other as we expand and enhance
our patient care delivery.
Our leadership team met the week of February 16 for the Kindred at
Home Leadership Meeting – “At Home Together.” For those who
were able to attend the opening session, we discussed our growth
strategies and shared path forward.
Throughout this integration effort, it’s important to us that you
receive information as soon as it is available. To that end, attached
are maps for each region highlighting the leadership structure and
geographic locations.
Our Integration Team is currently working to analyze our best
practices, policies and procedures to ensure we are adopting the most
efficient and effective solutions possible. If there are any changes or
decisions made, we will work to communicate this information as

usual and our focus continues to be on delivering highquality, patient-centered care.
Moving forward, our Better Together series will
provide you with insights on specific topics related to
the integration, our businesses and daily operations.
While we will continue to answer relevant questions
about our combined organization, we encourage you

FAQs
As a part of our ongoing effort to provide you with
resources and information related to the integration,
please see the following Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs). Our goal is provide you with transparent and
open communications as decisions are made.
Will there be any changes to legacy Gentiva and
Kindred travel and reimbursement policies?
Our Integration Team is reviewing current
Gentiva and Kindred policies to identify the
best go-forward strategy. At this time, you
should continue to book travel and submit
reimbursements based on your legacy policy. We
will provide you with detailed instructions and
guidelines as soon as this process changes.
Are there current opportunities for employees
to travel to various branches/sites to help train/
consult during this transition?
2015 will be an exciting time as we begin to
combine best practices and streamline processes.
This comes with many opportunities to help lead,
share experiences and cross train. Over the course
of the next few months we will be able to create
a better picture of our training needs and will be
sure to communicate any applicable opportunities.
If you are interested in supporting these efforts,
please be sure to let your supervisor know.
Any idea if you'll be closing any offices?
It’s too early in the process for us to know
what mix of office locations will best support
our combined organization and patient’s
needs. Our goal throughout this process will
be to thoughtfully and thoroughly discuss
decisions and to provide you with transparent,
open communications. We will provide more
information as it becomes available. At this time,
please continue to operate business as usual.
Besides Medicare, what other payer sources does
Kindred have contracts with for home health? Does
Kindred have any future plans to negotiate more
contracts with insurance companies that are not in
network?
Kindred at Home holds contracts with hundreds of
insurance companies, health plans, managed care
organizations and networks across the country.
We review our agreements regularly to identify
the ones that need to be maintained as well as
recognize new agreements that would help us grow
our business.
Has there been an announcement of when
the stock purchase of Gentiva stock would be
dispersed?
At this time, all exchange forms have been mailed
to Gentiva shareholders. If you have a question
about your stock payout, please complete either of
the following options:
• If your shares were held by Computershare, call
855.396.2084.
