March 2015 - UKIP Dorset North
Issue no. 104 March 2015 Most of us recently have sat through two pieces of propaganda and survived the ordeal! The first was the Channel 4 production depicting the first 100 days of a UKIP government and the experiences of an Asian candidate. This was centred on leftwing riots and forced repatriation. None of it rang true. All it achieved was to cause offence to some and to cure insomnia for others. It failed to put anyone off voting for Ukip, and indeed many bloggers seemed to take pity on UKIP and stated they would vote for us as a result of watching this appalling piece of EU sponsored propaganda. It is likely the EU paid about a third of the makers’ costs for this rubbish through the European Commission's Creative Europe fund. The second was BBC2’s ‘Meet the Ukippers’. This brought comments that it could have been much worse as hatchet jobs go! Mike Browning, UKIP’s Council candidate for Branksome West summed it up well by saying ‘I seriously wonder why people continue to pay the TV license fee for this kind of utter drivel. With such fundamental and important questions facing the electorate, this is all the ConDems can procure - it's laughable but also a serious dis-service to the British people.’ That says it all! The Public Sector Executive is bragging that, and we quote ‘A delegation of 48 politicians from across the UK has been formally appointed to the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) – the EU’s political assembly of local and regional authorities. The members will join national delegations from all EU member states. Established since 1994 to allow Europe's local and regional governments to have a voice within the EU, the 350-strong CoR assembly gathers in Brussels a few times a year to discuss political priorities and adopt opinions on EU legislation.’ Why councillors should need to do this is unclear – at first. Marry this piece of information with the BBC’s promoting of regional mayors, such as Liverpool and Birmingham Note that Exeter is now signed as ‘EU Regional Capital’ in region K [that’s our region] Now a picture begins to emerge. The EU aim of breaking the UK into small regions is well known, particularly since the Lisbon Treaty and these points add flesh as to how it is being achieved. It is all part of reducing our country into a series of regions, reducing the powers of Westminster until it is abolished, and scrapping England and the counties. Breaking our country into bit sized pieces of the EU Empire, incapable of independent actions or even existence. All with the blessing of our politicians of the now failed parties over the last half a century. What a tragic state of affairs. Only UKIP will do something about it. We have also heard from the Church of England that people should not vote for UKIP in the forthcoming elections. And they wonder why their congregations are shrinking! The Bishops are expected shortly to issue instruction on how the faithful should vote in the May elections. They should vote for a party which will ease austerity, campaigns to scrap our nuclear weapons and promotes the EU. Is this payback time as the CofE has been getting considerable funding from the EU through a project called the “Soul for Europe.” According to their website “A Soul for Europe” invites citizens to work together with their elected representatives in its programme A Cultural Coalition for a Citizens’ Europe to raise awareness of Europe as a cultural project. “A Soul for Europe” invites you to join in a collaborative work process towards a European Resolution on Culture: Supporting Culture as an Instrument for Values, Democracy, and Citizenship.” Surely this is not the job of the church. The tentacles of the EU reach into every aspect of our lives. UKIP has its work cut out once it gains power. A letter in the Telegraph stated some interesting facts. “Britain’s last Defence Review, based on interests rather than just saving money, was in 1998 when 3% of our GDP went on Defence. Amongst other things, it maintained 36 ocean going Escorts at sea and 150,000 soldiers on land. As the world’s fifth largest economy we now spend 2% of GDP, with 19 escorts and the army on its way down to 85,000. Yet total government spending is up from 35% to 42% of GDP." This is at a time when the figures of three major powers are as follows. Military aircraft : China - 2,860; Russia - 3,429; India - 1,905; Navy ships: China - 495; Russia – 352; India – 180; Army tanks: China - 9,150; Russia - 15,398; India - 6,464. UKIP will reinvest in our armed forces – an essential policy. March 1st is the date 8 police stations have closed their desk service or are confirmed as closed in Dorset. Christchurch, Winton, Ferndown, Wareham, Shaftesbury and Dorchester police stations join the ranks of Verwood and Wimborne to save a paltry £300K. Strangely alternative arrangements are not going to be available until the summer, when council offices, community centres and libraries will offer a spasmodic service. In the mean time you have the option of dialling 101 or going on line. How can the government reduce their policing budget by 20% at a time when the population is rising by at least 1 million every 4 years [and no doubt more unofficially] and we face an unprecedented influx of criminals from the eastern countries of Europe. Maybe they should stop paying the £55m a day to Brussels and adequately fund British police and military services instead. Dorset North PC Steve Unwin The Fightback Starts with You We have just two months to save our country. The outcome of the General Election is more unknown than ever before. Both Labour and Conservatives have placed themselves in a position that they cannot win. The Lib Dems have collapsed. Across the country there is a real desire for change. UKIP was formed 21 years ago. In the past, under first past the post elections, it was impossible for UKIP to win any seats. But now we have come of age, the question is not can UKIP win, it is how many seats will UKIP take. Lib Dems, Labour and the Conservative are all set to lose to UKIP. UKIP is now the main challenger in virtually every seat in England and Wales. Tories have become an irrelevance in the North, and Labour are equally out of touch in the South. As well as this North-South divide, UKIP has also crossed the ‘class’ barrier. UKIP want change – real change from career politicians and identikit pro-EU Governments that have plagued us under Blair, Major, Brown and Cameron (+ poodle Clegg). Our politicians have given up on this country: they do not believe in Britain. They think us too small to run our own country. 12 years ago most of these Europhiles even said we were too small to run our own currency. Only by getting out of the EU can we return to a democratic system to make our own laws, control our own borders, enter our own trade deals, and take charge of our country’s destiny. Over the next weeks there will be leaflets to deliver, posters to get up, doors to knock on, and people to communicate with. We need lots of people to each do their bit – even a couple of hours once or twice over the next two months might make the difference between winning and losing in your constituency. It all costs money, so for those unable to help in other ways we need you to dig deep. Major changes to election law over the last few years has created great disparity in how our elections are run. Historically, a campaign was short and the amount that could be spent heavily restricted. Since the changes, a candidate can now spend around £35,000 in the ‘long’ campaign (up to the end of March) plus a further £16,000 or so in the last four weeks – around £50,000 in a typical county constituency (less in a borough). You can bet the Tories and Labour will spend huge amounts, as they have a lot to lose. UKIP does not have the benefit of big business, trade unions or Russian oligarchs. Every pound we spend in our Dorset campaigns is raised from local members like you. We have worked hard to fund our campaign, but here in North Dorset we are working on a relative shoestring, our current overall total is around £3,000. So please also give generously to your constituency Fighting Funds – the more we have the more we can do. Can we please remind you that more council candidates for North Dorset are needed? We have the least in the 8 Dorset Constituencies. Last time out we had a magnificent 37 out of 43 - at present just 5 [tbc] out of 41. We also need large numbers of Town and Council candidates. You can even stand for both! So don’t be shy, please put yourself forward to help fill the gaps – District, Town and Parish need not be too onerous if your are elected. It might mean you are able to make a difference in your neighbourhood. Please let John Baxter know soon if you would to take up the challenge! Links of interest Interested in education?
