Diocesan Prayer Link Trowbridge - St John the Baptist with Westbury NOTICES FOR THE COMING WEEK CAFOD FAMILY FAST DAY The second collection last weekend realised £491.85 - Thank you on behalf of all those aided by this generous amount. PRAYER OPPORTUNITIES DURING LENT Stations of the Cross Each Friday at 9.30am in St Joseph’s, each Friday at St Nicolas at 9.30am and each Wednesday at Saint Michael’s BC at 6.00pm [ecumenical]. A Lent course in Winchcombe The weekly prayer sessions at Encounter take place on Mondays at 7.30pm and at the Methodist Church on Thursdays at 2.00pm. Lenten Alms giving - A box has been placed in St Nicholas for collections enabling the Bishop to help charities that approach him. There will be a “Bring and share” coffee morning at St Joseph’s after Exposition on Saturday 14th March. Lenten Lunches - Fridays during Lent, 12noon in Winchcombe Guide Hall, organised by Winchcombe Churches together. SPECIAL CELEBRATION MASS Today our children preparing for First Holy Communion have a special involvement.. Please remember them in your prayers. ST NICHOLAS CENTENARY - FUND RAISING AND CELEBRATING Please see our notice board for latest updates about the fundraising events that continue and the various celebration events that we look forward to - particularly our consecration Mass and the parish lunch that follows. It would be great to have some young people on board to help with the coordination of these events. Please see the request for help on the notice board. Next Saturday there will be a coffee morning 9.30am -12.00 noon at the Guide Hall in Winchcombe. Please see Carol Baker if you would like to help with this event. On 16th May a Square Dance will be held in at St Michael’s Hall, Bishops Cleeve at 7.00pm. Tickets will be available soon. The Fund Raising Group also request donations for the Easter Raffle and any suitable tombola prizes or bric a brac items are welcome. Please leave anything you have in the box at the back of the church. Redecoration works will soon start and donations towards the cost may be made in the box at the back of the church. Please be generous as we move towards completion of work that enhances our church and our celebration of the Mass in this special year. ST NICHOLAS PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING Would all concerned please note that the next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 18th March, in the Presbytery. Please let Father Peter or Bernadette Pasco have any items for the agenda. ST JOSEPH’S PARISH PATRONAL FESTIVAL Solemn Mass will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday 19th March to celebrate the feast day. Refreshments will be served in the Narthex after Mass and all are warmly invited. DIOCESAN PASTORAL COUNCIL - THE THEME WILL BE “HUMAN DIGNITY - BEING TRULY HUMAN” An invitation is extended to the whole diocesan community for a day’s conversation, reflection and input, next Saturday 14th March. CHELTENHAM INTERFAITH This Tuesday, 10th March, at the Friends Meeting House, Cheltenham GL52 2NP, the Reverend Dr Marcus Braybrook, Anglican priest and President of the World Congress of Faiths, will speak on “Jesus seen through the eyes of people of other faiths”. The talk will commence at 7.30pm and follows the AGM at 7.00pm, chaired by Father Peter. All are most welcome. Please see the poster in the porch for further details. HOUSE OF THE OPEN DOOR EVENTS (1) “Come up to me on the Mountain” An ‘Intercession weekend’ with David Williams, a Catholic evangelist who teaches the word of God. Friday 24th April - Sunday 26th April. Price £120 (day rate £30). Please contact Chiara on 01386 852084 to reserve a place on this course which is designed to make our intercession more effective and fruitful by teaching us to enter deeply into the presence of the Lord. (2) Using art to help us on our Spiritual Journey Christine Dodd - an experienced spiritual director and artist - will lead a retreat this May from 4.00pm on Tuesday,12th May until Friday 15th May in the beautiful surroundings in Childswickham.
