About the Seminar Biodiversity is one of very important assets of any country. India is rich in biodiversity. Due to habitat destruction, overexploitation and hunting etc. many plants and animals have become extinct in the past. Habitat loss and non availability of food in jungles is attracting the wild animals towards the human habitation and causing the crop damage and threat to the life of human being & domestic animals. Many more plants and animals are also at the verge of extinction if not protected. Environmental pollution also has adverse effects on biodiversity. Different developmental projects like roadways, railways, buildings and river valley projects are disturbing the ecosystems. Dams are the obstacles for fish migration. There should be a balance between the developmental activities and environmental conservation through the sustainable / judicious use of resources. Different components of an ecosystem are related and interdependent in one or other way. Environmental education should be spread in all the sections of society. Environmental education will help in dealing with the habitat restoration and conservation of environment. There is a strong need of deliberations on such environmental issues. Objective of the Seminar The main objective of the seminar is to provide a common platform to the academicians, scientists and young researchers to deliberate on the different issues related to environment, conservation and biodiversity.
