The powder is safe, non-toxic, washable (except if it gets wet it may stain) and is made of cornstarch! There will also be volunteers along the trail to make your experience more colorful! All participants will receive a white “Got Color” t-shirt and race day packet. You MUST pre-register for this event. No day of the event registrations will be allowed! RECREATIONAL SWIM The Riverbank Community pool is located at the corner of 7th and Stanislaus Streets. The pool will open Monday, June 1, 2015 for recreational swim. HOURS: Monday – Thursday 1:00 – 3:30 pm Saturday 12:00 – 4:00 pm FEE: $2.00 per person SWIM PASS: $60.00 (individual) $100.00 (family of 4) is $20.00 Swim pass does not guarantee admission. Pool is closed when guard capacity is reached or water chemistry needs adjustment. REMINDER: All swimmers MUST wear swim suits! (No street clothes, shorts, or cut offs) RIVERBANK BARRACUDA SWIM TEAM Tryouts for the swim team will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 10:00 am. Those already on the team do not need to tryout again. All swimmers MUST be able to swim the distance of the pool with a freestyle stroke (25 yards) unassisted and any other skills required by the team coach. Practice will begin Monday. June 1st and end July 31, 2015 A parent meeting will be Monday, May 18, at the Community Center gazebo at 6:00 pm. Registration deadline is May 29, 2015. SWIM LESSONS Swim lessons are offered in two week sessions that run Monday – Thursday. Each session is taught for 40 minutes. Instructors will test on the first day of class to confirm each child is placed in the correct level. FEE: $50.00 resident $55.00 non-resident CLASS RATIO Tiny Tots: 1 instructor per 4 students Beginner: 1 instructor per 6 students Adv. Beginner: 1 instructor per 8 students Private lessons can be arranged through the Recreation Department depending on the instructor availability. The cost is $130.00 for 8 days of lessons and a half an hour in length. PARENT/BABY This course is designed for the 6 month to 36 month old baby. A parent or both parents learn to assist their child in water adjustment with the guidance of an instructor. Swim diapers are required MORNING LESSONS: Tiny Tot 11:00 am and 11:50 am and a parent is required to be in the Beginner 11:00 am and 11:50 am water. Advanced/ Beginner/ TINY TOT (pre-school 3-5 years old) This course is designed for the child who is Intermediate 11:50 am ready to swim. This is an introductory course EVENING LESSONS: that will help your child feel comfortable in the water as well as introduce them to basic Parent/Baby: 5:30 pm Tiny Tot: 4:00 pm, 4:45 pm, 5:30 pm water safety and swimming skills. Parents and 6:15 pm remain out of the water for this course. Please bring a sack lunch, water and wear enclosed shoes. www.riverbank.org 7 GMMA Olympic Style Tae Kwon Do-MA WHEN: Saturdays WHERE: Cardozo Gym 3625 Santa Fe TIME: Beginner- 10:15 to 10:55 am Advanced-9:40 to 10:10 am Tae Kwon Do is an art that has evolved by combining many different styles such as linear movements of Karate, flowing circle techniques of Kung Fu, and native kicking techniques of Judo and Kung-Fu. It has been incorporated mixed martial arts and Muay Thai techniques. It is a continuing program with a black belt as a goal. (Uniform GI’s are available from the instructor for $30.00). Originally designed for self- defense, many people practice T’ai Chi today for health reasons. T’ai Chi improves strength, balance and concentration and brings numerous health benefits, such as better circulation, digestion and mental acuity. The slow and graceful movements produce a feeling of relaxation, well-being and joy. Each class will begin with a “slow set” of movement focusing on 1-3 movements at a time. Please register early as we must meet a minimum for the class to proceed. www.riverbank.org 11 Park Facility Development Update SILVA PARK PHASE II The City of Riverbank has completed the plans for phase II at Silva Park. Installation of a restroom, gazebo and cement table tennis tables will begin in September, 2014. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held soon after and we will kickoff the fundraising efforts for the water park that will be part of Phase III of the development. Anyone interested in assisting with the planning and fundraising for the water park should call Sue Fitzpatrick, Director of Parks and Recreation at 863-7140. JACOB MYERS PARK The Friends of Jacob Myers Park and the City of Riverbank are seeking grants for increased parking and an amphitheatre at Jacob Myers Park. As grants and funding are secured we will move forward with these projects. Park Reservations Call the Recreation Office at 863-7150 for park availability and costs. Amenities: large gazebo, playground, wedding gazebo (available for rent), finger park (bring your own small toy cars), picnic area, open space, restrooms, bicycle and pedestrian trail and group camp area. No Jump Houses are permitted at this park. COMMUNITY CENTER PARK Located at 3600 Santa Fe St. This park offers a playground and gazebo. This park is near the Riverbank Community Pool. Jump Houses are allowed with permit. CASTLEBERG PARK This park is located at Eighth and Kentucky and offers a playground, large gazebo area, RIVERBANK SPORTS COMPLEX baseball/softball diamonds, basketball Phase II will include a picnic area, BMX Park courts, restrooms, and pedestrian walkway (no track but a park similar to a skatepark), around the park. Jump Houses are allowed and a recreation area. Phase II will begin as with a permit.s soon as funding is secured. Building capacity is 300. A kitchen is available. SCOUT HALL Located at 3017 High Street. The Scout Hall is perfect for small events. A small kitchen is available. RIVERBANK COMMUNITY POOL Located on the corner of 7th and Stanislaus Street. During the summer the pool is available to rent for birthday parties, company parties, church parties and more! Cost includes lifeguards. Pool is only open for rent when it is not open to the public. RIVERBANK TEEN CENTER Located at 3600A Santa Fe, this facility can be rented for youth groups, meetings or special functions during non-operated hours. RIVERBANK SPORTS COMPLEX RIVERBANK DOG PARK The dog park task force has been formed and are working on this project. The Sports Complex has a soccer field and a football/ soccer field that can be reserved on a first come first serve basis. A concession stand is also available. There are lighted fields. PLAZA DEL RIO Located across the street from City Hall, this is a perfect location for art, theater, and music! Come to the park and visit Downtown Riverbank!
