PUTTING MORE MINNESOTANS TO WORK Who is RESOURCE? RESOURCE empowers Minnesotans for greater personal, social and economic success. Through integrated chemical and mental health services, employment services and career education, RESOURCE helps individuals and families overcome personal and systemic barriers to family stability, economic advancement, and health. RESOURCE is a trusted workforce and jobs development partner and has served the Twin Cities for more than 50 years. It serves 20,000 people annually, in 17 Minnesota counties; specifically low-income individuals and families who face the largest disparities when it comes to education, health care, and employment. “If you connect with the right people who can help you, anything is possible.” — Carl, formerly homeless & graduate of RESOURCE maintenance and custodial training program What makes RESOURCE unique? A combination of barriers, and the lack of the right services and support, plague the behavioral health and economic stability of low income Minnesotans and keep people in poverty. RESOURCE’s combination of services helps individuals bridge the disparities in opportunities, increase their earning potential and make ends meet, and achieve personal and economic stability. Consequently, our participant and community outcomes are stronger than industry averages in the areas of wage advancement, training programs graduation rates, and completion rate of treatment programs. “Of all treatment programs, none was quite as effective as RESOURCE.” — Kelly, mother of two and recovery program graduate Funding Request RESOURCE is asking for $500,000 per year, for two years, for a workforce development fund appropriation. For the diverse individuals and families RESOURCE serves, particularly individuals facing mental illness and chemical dependency, the funds will be used to improve their earning potential and economic stability by linking them to relevant employment services and career training programs. Funds will be used immediately to help reverse the disparities in opportunity for individuals. Why Fund RESOURCE? OUTCOMES An evidence-based, culturally-responsive services provider, RESOURCE is the place people of all ethnic backgrounds and disparate economic means come for help in changing their lives for the better.
