CHAPTER NEWS, DISCUSSIONS, RIDE REPORTS, AND OTHER BUSINESS:
March greetings to all of our Gold Wing friends! How rewarding to have four of us arrive
on our "Wings" and better yet when several of us went for rides after the meeting. It's
hard to suppress that "spring fever itch" isn't it? Fourteen in all welcomed two new
members on Saturday, March 7th. Welcome Robert and Alan. Our newest members
have work schedules that keep them very busy. Let's all be sure to remember them on
our "spontaneous" rides. We look forward to seeing these new members at any
meetings and rides that work out with their work schedule.
After the gathering the Turner's rode to Richland and home. Robert, Butch, Joyce, Jim,
and Laurie rode to Deary and home. All returned safely and enthusiastic for further
rides. Hope others were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weekend.
Our officers continue to do a fantastic job in their new positions. With riding season
kicking in, let's all remember to be safe and have fun!

The March gathering was held on March 7th at Matt’s Grill in Asotin. Fourteen members were present.
Jack acknowledged birthdays and anniversaries, old and new business. Jim won the 50/50.
We will have a monthly ride in 2015. If you are interested in planning a ride (day, evening,
overnight…….), choose a month and let Laurie know.

Gayle will be ordering our ‘famous’ (or should it be infamous) tie-dyed t-shirts for those
that are interested. $18. Also, we will be placing an order for patches and rockers. If you
need/want patches/rockers for your vest, let Jack or Gayle know.
February 12 – Jack went to the Death Valley Ride….. good weather, fun rides,
and lots of ‘conversation’
March 4 – Jack and Gayle attended the Idaho District Staff meeting over Fuze. Discussion on the Riders
Education in Pasco (March 21), District Rally (July), and Chapter updates. Next meeting April 1st.
March 18 – Evening ride. Depart Sinclair boat ramp at 5:30 p.m. Ride to Drover’s Run at Jacques Spur
for dinner.

March 21 – WA Riders Education East. Pasco, WA. Registration opens at 8:00am, classes start at
8:30am, finish at 5:00pm. Information and Registration form - Rider Education Flyer. Bob and Karen
are registered. Contact Bob regarding details.
March 31 – Get your District Rally registration sent in!!!!! http://gwrra-id.us/?ai1ec_event=idahodistrict-convention&instance_id=1538 Don & Sharon, ID District Directors – “We’re challenging you
to be the best, most active chapter in the District and we’re putting our money on the line to prove it. Be
the chapter who has the highest percentage of membership pre-registered to attend the District Rally in
Kamiah July 2-4 by March 31st. The winning Chapter will receive a free Charter Fee for 2016. We will
tally up the registration forms on April 1st, determine who has the most pre-registrations submitted
based on the percentage of overall registered membership on you chapter, and announce the winner in
our April Newsletter (the winner will be notified immediately). Are your chapter the most active? The
most fun? The most competitive? We dare you to be the winners!
April 7 – ID-B chapter gathering. We are moving to evening gatherings during the riding season (first
Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.). April gathering will be April 7, 6:30 p.m., at Zone 208, 301 2nd St,
Lewiston.
May 15-18 – Victoria Days, BC-G. Jim and Laurie are planning on going. Contact Jim & Laurie if

May 22-25 – Desert Spring Fling, WA-L. Fun event and not far away. http://www.gwrra-wa-l.org/
June 5-7 – Blue Mountain Rendezvous, WA-R. FUN event and not far away.
Don’t forget we need pictures of ID-B events, activities, rides, etc. We are putting together a slide
show for the district rally in July. Also, we need to decorate our ‘wing’. We decided on a theme at the
meeting. We will have a work party in the near future.
July 2-4 - Idaho District Rally 2015, Kamiah, Lewis and Clark Resort. Make
reservations for rooms, cabins and camping by calling 208-935-2556 (tent
campers $12, RV’s $25, king room $65, 2 queen room $72, cabin $95).
There is a prize for the chapter with the most pre-registered members

RIDERS EDUCATION:
The First Ride of the Season
I know most of you have been out riding already this year. Some of us never really put the Gold
Wing into “Storage” mode. I wanted to take a second to remind everybody of a few things we
might need to do before we do make our “First Ride”.









If the Motorcycle has been stored for more than 4 months, change the engine oil and check
the fuel condition.
Charge the battery or install the battery.
Perform a “pre-ride inspection”.
Check tires for proper inflation. Do a visual inspection of the tires and wheels.
Look the motorcycle over for leaks, loose cables or anything that appears unusual. (Mice
Check the lights to insure they all work
Check the Throttle to make sure it rotates smoothly and no binding.
Check the brakes for normal operation.
Check all gages to insure they are working correctly.
Check the cargo areas for un-secure cargo
Is your Gold Wing ready to hit the road?
How about a fast wash job on the windshield and finish it all off with cleaning the rest of the bike?
A slow ride around the block for a test ride listening for any sounds that might have developed over
the storage time and to give yourself some time to refresh your memory of the controls on you
Gold Wing.
I hope we have many miles on our wings this year and can enjoy a lot of good rides with our
friends and chapter members.
