We will be having a member meeting in the ballroom at 11:00am. Topics covered will include the upcoming construction projects, traffic and parking issues related to the upcoming construction, security issues, update on recent thefts, updated member guide and Live Long Well Care. I look forward to seeing you on the 25th. Parking As a follow up to last week’s parking update, JR from the home office reviewed the sites for the proposed parking area expansions this past Tuesday. He will be returning to the campus on Wednesday, March 18 with a civil engineer to review the sites, and make sure they are appropriate for conversion to parking areas. Based on rough calculations so far, it appears we could create 25 parking spots for staff parking. Landscaping related to Construction of Reedy House The weather has not been cooperating with us, and has delayed our moving of the trees and plants from the front of the Reedy House Construction site. We hope to have this completed by Monday afternoon. Once this work is completed, we will wash down the streets and remove any mud or debris left over from this project. As soon as the landscaping move is completed, Triangle Construction will begin erecting the construction fencing around the site. Ground Breaking Ceremony – Reedy House We have scheduled the ground breaking ceremony for the Reedy House building. It will be held on April 2, 2015 at 11:00am at the construction site. Knox White, the Mayor of Greenville will be attending and participating in the groundbreaking ceremony. We will be posting more details during the coming weeks. Main Dining Room Carpet We are working with commercial carpet cleaning vendors, securing bids for cleaning of the main dining room carpet. I know many of you are frustrated or embarrassed by the condition of the carpet. I will keep you updated on our progress with this issue. See you around the campus. Nature Trail Use Members, Cascades has a beautiful campus with many venues located in our Clubhouse. We also have amenities outside for you to use. One of which is our beautiful nature trail. The trail goes around half of our campus and once construction is done on the new Cottages it will return to a full perimeter trail. If you would be so kind to take a few seconds and look in the RSVP book for the month of March and just put your name down as a trail user. It’s not required to use the trail of course, but we would like to know how it’s used, exercise or just a nature walk. We know it’s been cold but has the season turns to Spring we want to make sure you take full advantage of this wonderful trail. Thank you. – Keepers of the Trail The RSVP Book is Moving to the Concierge Desk The RSVP Book is our source for making reservations for events for members and a bookkeeping tool for staff to see how many have signed up for events. Well, we have noticed that some pages mysteriously go missing from the book prior to events happening, which makes it difficult to manage effectively. With that said, the RSVP Book will be kept at the Concierge desk for you to sign up for events. It will be available from 8am-8pm. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you. - Member Services Fix It Clinic A Repair Clinic for walkers, scooters and canes is on Thursday, March 26th (morning only). Please call Aleksandra to schedule an appt. #528-5526 6|Page News from the Trail March #2 While reviewing my trail photos, this scene caught my attention. It is a complex capsule of the remarkable diverse ecosystem that time and our stream have produced. When we encounter these beautiful natural scenes, we are reminded to tread lightly when altering or “improving” wild areas for our enjoyment. I took the challenge of the phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words” and came up with these. As you study the picture, I’m sure you can add to the list. This meeting is required by the State and Greenville County Republican Party by-laws, as it will also be by the Democratic Party for their members at another date. The purpose of the meeting is to elect new Precinct Officers, primarily a President, Executive Committee person, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Secondly, it is intended to elect delegates from the Precinct who wish to go to the County Convention to be held on April 18 th at the TD Convention Center. We are allowed to send 9 delegates from our Precinct. Cascades Verdae has the largest block of Republican voters in the Precinct. 96 voted as Republicans in the 2013 primary out of a total of 233 people voting as Republicans. With our new residents since 2013, we probably number over 100. We hold voting power relative to the 2016 election, and “getting involved” to support Republican candidates for local, state and national offices is very important. Please come to the meeting of Precinct 24 at Beck Academy on March 16th at 7:00pm. If you need a ride, Cascades transportation will provide a ride to Beck. The meeting will last about an hour. Dick Collett, President of Precinct 24 – Phone: 528-5287 P.S. Please bring your current Voter Registration Card with you. If you do not have a Precinct 24 Registration card and wish to exercise your vote, Registration change forms will be at the Concierge desk. These need to be completed and taken to the Church Street Voter Registration office. Their phone number is 864-467-7250 if you have any questions. PLEASE SIGN UP IN THE RSVP BOOK IF YOU NEED TRANSPORTATION TO BECK ACADEMY. Latest Info If Driving Yourself Park in front of building @ end nearest Laurens Rd. End door will be open @ 6:30pm.
