sponsors are required to attend a class on the third Friday of the month at
7:30pm. Call the office to register. Parents should be registered in the
parish for at least six months before they can register for the baptism

THE NEW COVENANT
When the prophet Jeremiah coined the term “new covenant” he
was actually doing something quite radical. For the Jewish people,
there was only one covenant, the one made between the Lord God
and Israel through Moses at Mount Sinai. For Jeremiah to suggest
that God would somehow supersede the covenant with a new one
would have sounded audacious to Jewish ears. But in this way he
is a predecessor of Jesus who, in the Gospel of John, is continually
portrayed as superseding the past, establishing the reign of God in
a new way. And in today’s Gospel passage, Jesus the “new
covenant” speaks the language of his “new commandment” of love
when he tells of the dying grain of wheat, and of our own need to
die to self in order to be raised with Christ. As Lent ends and we
prepare to enter into Holy Week, the dying grain of wheat serves as
an excellent symbol of the kind of dying and self-sacrifice to which
disciples are called, a symbol of that new covenant written deep
within our hearts.

PERPETUAL MASSES One mass a day in perpetuity, said in the
Basilica in Rome for the intention of the person enrolled. Half of the
proceeds is used for the upkeep of the Basilica and the other half is
used to help the Salesian Seminarians.
SPIRITUAL BOUQUETS For the living – 25 Masses said in a year for
five years. For the deceased – 25 Masses said for a year.

GIVE US TIME
On Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, the Supreme Court of Canada struck
down the Criminal Code of Canada prohibition on assisted
suicide and gave the federal government one year to draft a new
law. It is urgent that we as Catholics show we support new
legislation and urge the government to obtain sufficient time by
invoking the notwithstanding clause. With a federal election this
fall, one year is not enough time to draft effective legislation.
Help us call on the federal government to invoke the
Notwithstanding Clause now to give Parliament more than one
year. Please visit giveustime.ca to download and sign the
postcard to urge the Federal government to invoke the
Notwithstanding Clause so Parliament can draft effective
assisted suicide legislation.
TAX CLINIC
Tax Clinic at OLGC every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm at
the Mary Help of Christians Hall until May 3rd. Volunteers help
eligible individuals with simple tax situations, and those not able
to prepare their income tax returns on their own. The following

In Matthew 18: 20 Christ says " For where two or three are
gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them"
ADMA: “ASSOCIAZIONE DIMARIA AUSILIATRICE”. In English
translation, “Association of Mary Help of Christians”. It offers a
path that leads to holiness and to the salesian apostolate (“It is
Our Lady’s wish that we honour her under the title of Mary Help
of Christians. Our times are so bad that we need the most holy
Virgin to help us to preserve and defend the Christian faith” MB
7, 334). In particular, Don Bosco founded it to involve the
majority of working-class people in the spirituality and mission
of the Salesian Congregation, as a second specific Group in his
work (Cf. GC24, 80).
TRIDUUM TWILIGHT RETREAT
We invite those involved in parish and school ministry to ponder
the time of Holy Week. Join us for a light supper and an evening
of reflection and prayer as we enter deeply into the most sacred
days of the Christian year. Open to anyone interested in taking
time to prepare for Easter. Friday, March 27, Holy Trinity Parish,
North Vancouver with Fr. Reynaldo Usman and repeated on
Monday, March 30 at St. Andrew Kim Parish, Surrey with Fr.
Rufo Zarate Jr., SDB. Both times from 6-9pm. Cost: $20 a person,
includes dinner. Pre-registration required.
ARCHDIOCESAN CELEBRATION FOR THE
30TH WORLD YOUTH DAY
We invite young adults to join Archbishop Miller in celebrating
their faith at Holy Rosary Cathedral and Hall on Saturday, March
28. The day starts at 1 pm with music, a guest speaker, a way of
the cross and a procession with palms. We'll then celebrate Palm
Sunday Mass (Anticipated) at 5pm. After the Mass, the day will
end with a dinner and a concert by Sam Rocha. Tickets required
for this event. Cost is only $10 for dinner and the concert, but
FREE for the afternoon program. Tickets available at

THE WORLD YOUTH DAY IN KRAKOW
Fr. Jan is organizing a pilgrimage to Krakow on World Youth Day
2016: July 25 - August 01. He is inviting young adults between
the ages of 18 and 35 years old. Pilgrimage will be for 2 weeks.
The cost will be between $2,600.00 - 3,000.00. For more

YOUTH ADORATION AND BENEDICTION

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
As we approach Holy Week, the creative juices of the ancient
church of Jerusalem begin to shape our journey. In old Jerusalem at
this season of the year, the attempt was made to recall the events
leading up to Christ’s passion. Those attempts were based not only
on time, with celebrations of events as close to the day and hour as
possible, but also on people’s best guesses as to the actual place of
these events. Vast numbers of pilgrims flooded the city during the
forty days of Lent, many of them catechumens in their last stages of
preparation for initiation. The fourth-century Spanish nun Egeria
wrote a delightfully detailed diary of her experience of this lively and
aerobic liturgy, which involved hearty singing, strong preaching, and
nimble processions across vast and arduous terrain.
Much of this energy was lost over the centuries, with the
procession of palms a noteworthy exception. Northern climates had
to reinterpret this Jerusalem liturgy, using forsythia, willow, or olive
branches, but to this day the entry into Holy Week by a community
on the move accompanied by joyful song hearkens back to a
venerable tradition. Egeria’s letters were rediscovered a little more
than a hundred years ago, but they reveal a pattern of prayer: full,
conscious, active participation, to which we have a right and a duty.
