Dear Parents and Carers,
This semester, Year 3 students have been learning about history through the unit Community
and Rememberance. To support these learning experiences, and to connect with the learning
around both the centenary of Cammeray Public School and the 100 years of ANZAC, the
students will attend an excursion to the NSW Schoolhouse Museum, Cox’s Road, North
Ryde.
The museum’s program ‘At School At War’ re-creates aspects of 1915 school life when NSW
pupils took an active role in the war effort. Through hands on experiences using historical
sources, they will be immersed into the home front during World War One from a child’s
perspective. Personal stories of local boys who served will be woven throughout.
3M, 3T, 3A will visit the museum on Tuesday 28th April (Term 2, Week 2).
3L and 3S will visit the museum on Tuesday 5th May (Term 2, Week 3).
Students will need to wear full school uniform, a hat and bring a rain jacket if needed. They
will need to bring a light backpack or an excursion bag for the day that contains morning tea,
lunch and a water bottle.
We will be departing by bus at 9.30am and we will return to school by 3pm. Please make sure
your child arrives to school by 9.15am.
Your Semester One fees cover the cost of this excursion. If you have not paid your fees, the
cost for the day will be $21 which includes $13 museum entry and the bus fare.
We would like to invite two grandparents from each class to accompany us on this very special
excursion. If an elderly member of your family would like to join in, please include their name
on the return slip and depending on numbers you will be notified as soon as possible.
Please sign and return the permission note to school by Friday.
