What is Soochna Seva
Soochna Seva is an initiative of Digital Empowerment
Foundation, as a pilot programme, supported by European
Union in India, which aims at improving access and delivery
of information on public schemes in backward district of
India.
The "SOOCHNA SEVA" programme seeks to introduce ICT
and non-ICT based information services delivery and access.
Moreover it comprises of a mechanism wherein a community
oriented model will be used towards information
empowerment. It aims to strengthen the district level
administration for public information dissemination in order
to reach out the communities with essential information on
citizen's benefits.
Objective of Soochna Seva
To facilitate delivery of public scheme information
services and enable entitlement gains for citizens, groups
and communities
— To strengthen capacities of local communities, groups and
citizens to work with local administration to improve and
better the public scheme information dissemination and
entitlement framework
— To strengthen capacities of local administration
(Panchayat, Block and District) and official to organize the
public information delivery and access mechanisms better
towards efficiency and wider reach.

Why Soochna Seva
There is a huge gap in the awareness and accessibility of
information among the deprived section of the community,
which is growing day by day due to lack of effective & people
centric information governance structure. Because of
improper implementation of the schemes the marginalised
communities are worst affected and hence to fill these gaps,
the programme is being designed to be implemented through
multiple modes of communication. This way, Soochna Seva
seeks to address the larger issue of backwardness and
underdevelopment by focusing on disseminating public
scheme information

Programme 2014-15
"Fellowship for young enthusiasts who are willing to make a difference
under soochna seva. A programme that is simple yet powerful- address
the larger issues of poverty & social exclusion by bridging information
inequity; that information of the people and for the people is delivered
to them by the people themselves. The Fellowship challenges fellows
over the course of 6 months to work with the communities and act as
field agents for public information dissemination and entitlement gain"
