Many students do not have an extensive amount of experience in the field that they are pursuing. Giving
work-related examples of how you have performed in the past may be difficult. You may also provide life
experience to answer interview questions. Below are entry level interview questions that you may be
asked at an interview and should be prepared to answer.
Sample Questions:


Tell me a time that you dealt with an angry customer or someone that was upset with
something that you had to handle.
Describe a situation where you took steps to resolve a complaint.
How would you handle a customer who was angry?
Describe to me what you would do if you were dealing with an upset customer on the
phone?
Tell me about a time when someone returned your work because they didn’t understand
it. What did you do?
Describe a time when your ability to listen helped you communicate better.
When communicating with others, do you generally write them a memo, call them or talk
to them in person?
This position requires you to spend time reading and responding, in writing. How would
you describe your writing skills?
How can you tell if someone is professional? What do you look like? How do they act?
What three effective professional qualities are the most important to you? Why?
Tell me about a job that you had which required you to new things?
What are you seeking in an employer? What are your take a way skills you hope to have?
Tell me about the accomplishment you are most proud of and why.
Tell me about a work situation that irritated you.
What risks are you willing to take to achieve goals that you have set for yourself?
Describe your future goals and steps you plan on taking to reach these goals.
In your current or past positions, what types of decisions do/did you make without
consulting with your boss?
Give me an example of potential work problem that you anticipated and resolved.
How do you stay attuned to new trends in your area of expertise?
What factors do you take into consideration when analyzing the data?
What is the wildest idea that you have had in the past year?
What is the most difficult decision that you’ve had to make? How did you arrive at your
decision?
What type of approach to solving work problems seems to work best for you?
Give me an example of a time when there was a decision to be made and procedures
were not in place.
Describe a situation in which you felt it might be justifiable to break company policy or
alter a standard procedure. What did you do?

Describe how you manage to maintain balance between accomplishing projects and
attending meetings.
How do you handle interruptions to ensure that you complete your projects on time?
In your present position what limits your ability to manage your time? How do you work
with these limitations?
Describe a time your current job when your boss assigned a rush project even though you
had other important priorities at the time. How did you feel and what was your response?
What sort of work environment do you prefer? What brings out the best performances?
When was the last time that you learned something complex in short time? How did you
manage it?
