EASTER SUNDAY 2015
Newsletter for Sundays - 5th and 12th April 2015
Happy Easter to you all! What a wonderful
time of year this is, when there is hope all
around us. The world of nature leads the way,
and the time of new growth, new life and new
beginnings is reflected in the liturgies of the
Church. We welcome into the Church a family
who have decided to be Baptised Catholics,
and at the Easter Vigil one who is already
Baptised but wishes to enter into full
communion with the Catholic Church.
As we go to press both parishes are busy
getting ready for the Holy Week services. I
cannot thank you all enough for all you do for
the Church. To all the section leaders and
volunteers in both Churches, I pray that you
will be rewarded by the Risen Lord for your
commitment to his Church – Happy Easter!
and enjoy the Easter Egg Hunt after Mass this
week at All Saints, and after Mass next week
at SMC (FG)
Please remember in your Masses and Prayers:
Muriel Doyle-Barnes who died last week. Our
thoughts and Prayers are with her family, as
they mourn her loss. May she rest in peace.
Amen. Her funeral will be on Monday 13th
April, 10am at St Mary Crowned Church. (FG)
Baptism Course – The next course is Sunday 19th April
4 – 5.30pm at Royle House. Please tell your families
about this course, if they are with child and wish to
have their babies Baptised in either parish. (FG)
I would like to invite all young families to lunch on
Sunday 19th April at St Mary’s Hall at 12.30pm. Thank
you to all those who came last time, and have
accepted the challenge to keep it going every 6
weeks. (FG)
All candidates for the High Peak Constituency have
been invited to attend and be questioned by you –
the electors of the High Peak on Wednesday 8th April.
Light refreshments and stalls set out by local groups
from 6.30pm followed by the hustings meeting at 7.30
-9.30pm; Venue: Central Methodist Church, Chapel
Street, Glossop SK13 8AT; (Arranged by a small group
from Glossop Churches and Voluntary Organisations)
ACTORS NEEDED Parishioners Wynn Moran and Rob
Faulkner are planning a Drama Production to raise
money for the Church Restoration Fund. The play is
written and St. Mary's Hall is booked for rehearsals
and the performance.
We already have a definite cast including Moira
Hind, Sarah Hussell and Sue Nash and friend, but we
need at least one more female (17+) and possibly
two males. Our last production at Glossop Labour
Club was a huge success. We do the whole thing on
four Saturdays. The dates this time when you would
need to be free are April 25th (10-4), May 16th (10-4),
May 23rd (10-4) and May 30th (10 - 7.30pm to include
the performance). If you would like to be involved,
please contact Wynn at church. We promise you
much enjoyment.
Pope Francis Says in his Easter Vigil Sermon:
“Let the risen Jesus enter your life, welcome him as a
friend, with trust: he is life!
If until now you have kept him at a distance, step
forward. He will receive you with open arms.
If you have been indifferent, take a risk: you won’t be
disappointed.
If following him seems difficult, don’t be afraid, trust
him, be confident that he is close to you, he is with
you and he will give you the peace you are looking
for and the strength to live as he would have you do.
May he make us men and women capable of
remembering all that he has done in our own lives
and in the history of the world.
May he help us to feel his presence as the one who is
alive and at work in our midst.”
